2022 GMC Canyon Gets $300 Price Increase

The 2022 GMC Canyon has received a small price increase after GM raised the cost of the mandatory destination freight charge for the mid-size pickup truck.

Going forward, the destination freight charge for the 2022 GMC Canyon will be set at $1,195, up $300 from $1,495. This will, in effect, make the 2022 GMC Canyon $300 more expensive across the board regardless of the trim level, drive type, powertrain or options and features that are chosen. Expectedly, GM applied this same price change to the closely related 2022 Chevy Colorado pickup, which is built alongside the Canyon at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

Following this change, the GMC Canyon in the entry-level Elevation Standard trim with the 3.6L LGZ V6 gasoline engine and rear-wheel drive will start at $29,780, while the Elevation trim with the same engine/drivetrain combination will start at $33,280. The AT4 Cloth trim with the 3.6L LGZ V6 will be priced from $39,895, while the AT4 Leather with the same engine/drivetrain combination will start at $41,695. The range-topping Denali will be priced from $42,695.

The 2022 GMC Canyon will be the last model year for the current second-generation pickup truck, with GM poised to introduce a brand-new third generation for the 2023 model year. The new 2023 Canyon will introduce a completely new exterior design and an overhauled interior, as well as a heavily revised version of the current model’s 31XX platform, an all-new powertrain lineup, and new active safety features, among more. The 2023 Canyon is expected to debut later this year.

  4. No doubt the price of fuel and trucking labor is fueling these price changes. When the cost or a barrel of oil drops in the future, as it always does, destination chargers never drop. Just another oh-hum fee. It would be interesting thing to know what do independent truckers are gets paid per vehicle when transporting them. It is not what the sticker reads.
