A few days ago, GM Authority reported that the 2022 Chevy Equinox would arrive in South Korea a few days ago. Now, General Motors has confirmed the news by officially launching the refreshed crossover in the Asian country.
The 2022 Chevy Equinox‘s launch took place during a special event in Seoul, marking the nameplate’s reintroduction to the South Korean market after a two-year absence due to production difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The model, which GM Korea classifies as a “midsize” utility vehicle, expands the brand’s local offering.
“The Equinox is Chevrolet’s representative mid-size SUV evolving through a long journey with customers,” said new President and CEO of GM Korea, Roberto Rempel, in an official press release. “New 2022 Equinox is a compelling SUV that will make every moment of your customers stand out with its design presence and enhanced performance,” he added.
In addition to receiving a facelift and a new powertrain, the 2022 Chevy Equinox arrives in South Korea with four trim levels: LS, LT, RS, and Premier. The RS variant is new and represents one of the crossover’s most significant novelties.
All variants include the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX engine that delivers 172 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission. All trims include all-wheel drive except the LS variant, which is only available in front-wheel drive configuration.
The 2022 Chevy Equinox in South Korea is manufactured at the GM Plant in San Luis PotosÃ, Mexico. The Premier version of the 2022 Equinox for Korea has a special blacked-out finish for the logo, wheels, and badging similar to the Dark Knight trim introduced on the Chevy Tahoe.
Here are the prices of the 2022 Chevy Equinox in South Korea:
- 2022 Equinox LS: 31,040,000 KRW (about $24,830 at the current exchange rate)
- 2022 Equinox LT: 34,030,000 KRW ($27,215)

Please tell me why the production schedule for the 2022 equinox RS has been suspended. I’m patiently waiting for my car, starting week #8 this Saturday.
Anyone know how different Chevy vehicles are in different markets? For example an Equinox sold in Saudi (hot dry desert) vs in Thailand (hot wet) vs Canada (cold winters). Does GM add dust filters in desert climates, extra rust protection in wet climates, etc?
Or even just in the US. Aside from the legally required emissions levels, would an Equinox sold in California be the same as an Equinox sold in Florida or in Illinois? An Equinox driven in Los Angeles would not need protection against road salt for example, while one sold in Chicago or Boston would. But does GM actually add such protection to cars shipped to Chicago or Boston, or do they not bother?
