What To Do If Your 2022 Chevy Silverado Was Delivered Without Rear Wheelhouse Liners

As GM Authority covered previously, the rear wheelhouse liners for the 2022 Chevy Silverado have been placed under constraint, including liners for both the light-duty Chevy Silverado 1500 and the heavy-duty Chevy Silverado HD. However, for those customers that have purchased an affected unit, there is still some recourse.

First, let’s briefly touch on the issue at hand. For those that may have missed it, the rear wheelhouse liners (RPO code B1J) for the Chevy Silverado 1500 and Chevy Silverado HD were previously unavailable to order for select configurations as a result of a supplier issue, affecting models produced between March 21st and April 7th. In a follow-up published last month, GM Authority reported that the constraint was later lifted for nearly all affected trim levels, starting with April 8th production. However, the rear wheelhouse liners are still unavailable to order for certain units of the Chevy Silverado Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss trim levels.

Now, for those customers who have taken delivery or will take delivery of a Chevy Silverado that is not fitted with the rear wheelhouse liners, a $140 credit will be applied, as indicated by the vehicle’s window sticker. If affected buyers would still like these liners on their truck, the feature is offered as an accessory and can be ordered through the dealership parts department. That said, the feature is not available via the consumer-facing Chevrolet Accessories website.

Normally, the rear wheelhouse liners are available on Chevy Silverado 1500 WT Double Cab 4WD and Crew Cab 4WD configurations as an optional extra. However, the feature is not offered for Regular Cab, Double Cab 2WD, or Crew Cab 2WD models. The feature was also offered for Custom and Custom Trail Boss. Meanwhile, LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss trims offer the feature via the Protection Package (RPO code WPQ), while ZR2, LTZ, and High Country trims include it as standard.

With regard to Chevy Silverado HD models, the rear wheelhouse liners are normally included with the Convenience Package (RPO code PCL) for LT trim levels, while LTZ and High Country trims include it as standard. The feature is not offered for WT or Custom trims.

As for the engine specs, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is offered with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, and 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax. Under the skin is the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Silao plant in Mexico, the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, and at the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

Finally, the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD is offered with the atmospheric 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine and 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax, while the heavy-duty truck rides on a more capable version of the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

  1. The customer can order them through their parts department from the nearest GM dealer or through GM parts direct using the part number for the 2021 mole year since there were no changes to the body. I did confirm with my parts guy at the dealership that I work at.$150.00 msrp plus tax. Can you use your my GM rewards points towards the cost. Your service department will probably charge you up to an hour labor unless you put them on yourself.

  2. If my truck arrived without them, and was supposed to include them, I would not take delivery until they were installed.

            1. Chevy Man,
Ram does not have 8 speed Transmission law suits, does not have a fake allison Trans, does not have 42 people dead from faulty Ignitions, did not buy back 3500 duramax’s HD’s last month, did not recall all Chevy Volts this year because of fires, Ram does not require you to park your EV 250 feet from any structure due to catching on fire , My 2019 Denali currently has 4 recalls and no parts for them, I have a letter from GM stating my fuel injectors in my duramax may fail, so they added a 50K warantee to truck in case they due fail to satisify the government. GM side skirts all there problems , and hose the owners till the point they finally give up. There is a lot of Rams on the road and millions of Fords, your GM use to be a good company but the turn out cheap $hit box trucks now, you read the blog everyday, you know it too.

  7. Make some lemonade from these lemons: Just use your gm points that you received when you purchased your new truck and the liners will be free. Or better yet use your new GMAC credit card and earn 4% back on your purchase.

  10. The 2022.5 Silverado WT unpainted grille could be OK for some. personally I do not like it. It was the same “unpainted base theme” as the previous model.
However when it come to the Custom, the previous model had it painted body color in the center beam in such a way that the Silverado lettering outstands nicely.
But for the 2022.5, the Silverado Custom has the same SUPER UGLY theme as that for the base WT.
In the configuration tool there is something in the accesories section that seems to be a “decal” in color to be adhered to the grille, but not shown in any pictures whatsoever.
Regarding the liners, I bought the set for $135 including tax and installed it myself on a Saturday while enjoying snacks and pops with my son.

    1. Rear wheelhouse liners…….same thing hear. picked up 22 refreshed HC April18, 2022. I received an IOU from dealer and have not received. I’ve seen all new trucks from the factory in their lot with rear liners. I’ve checked with 4 other Chevy dealers around and was told they are still unavailable to order. One told me they would start ac cepting parts orders for these in March ? I’m going to recheck later this week. What is unacceptable, is the dealer has NO current info. Very poor

  12. Still have no heated steering wheel, finally got heated seats , still no rear rear fender liners! This is a 2022 LTZ delivered in May 2022. GM should be ashamed to sell a truck , incomplete, for 60k,and 9 months later, still incomplete.Customer service has gone to the dogs, and sadly they don’t care!
