Back in December, we provided readers with the first glimpse of the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban finished in the then-new Evergreen Gray Metallic exterior color. The window to get a Tahoe or Suburban in this color was quite small, though, as we’ve now learned GM will stop taking new sold orders for models in this exterior color as of May 12th, 2022.
Assigned RPO code GED and touch-up paint code WA-244F, Evergreen Gray Metallic is one of five dark hues and one of six metallic hues available for the 2022 Tahoe and Suburban. This color, which has a light grey appearance with a very noticeable dark green tint, is available on all 2022 Tahoe and Suburban trim levels for a $495 surcharge and can be ordered with any of the available interior color options.
To be clear, GM will continue to produce the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban in the Evergreen Gray Metallic exterior color for the remainder of the year, however May 12th will be the final day to place a new sold order for a vehicle in this color. It’s currently unclear of the exterior color will be offered on the 2023 model-year Tahoe and Suburban.
For the sake of reference, here are all ten 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban exterior colors:
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
- Auburn Metallic (new for 2022)
- Dark Ash Metallic (new for 2022)
- Satin Steel Metallic
- Summit White
- Black
- Evergreen Gray Metallic (new for 2022)
- Empire Beige Metallic
- Midnight Blue Metallic
- Cherry Red Tintcoat
Both the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban are available with three powertrain options, starting with the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, followed by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and finally, the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax. Both SUVs ride on top of the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

Gm is maddening in their disdain for green colors! I want a new Silverado in green, z71, diesel with 3.73.(1500) Mary says no!
Just about every color that gm has introduced which involved Green never lasted within the market for a long period of time and this particular Green color looks good enough to sustain ongoing orders for the remainder of this year, just like they do with their 5 basic colors that gm will never do away with.
Question- why keep introducing nice colors like this to just keep doing away with them? It is a waste of time and money and resources!
I was always hoping they would bring the hunter green back for many years! I have a 2002 Tahoe in the dark green, love it!! I waited for years, contacted GM to bring it back, one reason I put off getting a new Tahoe, then the Yukon came out first with the metallic green so I went with it, even though it’s not as dark, I still see alot of the dark green models like my 2002, They need to let it ride for a couple of years before discontinuing it, basic colors are boring!! Love the GREEN!!
