The Exorcist Hennessey Camaro ZL1 Gets Test Drive: Video

Right out of the box, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 is certainly no slouch, throwing down 650 supercharged ponies with all the performance goodies to match. However, when it comes to horsepower, some folks always want more, and to that end, Hennessey Performance offers this – the Exorcist.

Originally designed to bring the heat to the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, the Exorcist Hennessey Camaro ZL1 ups the ante with even more muscle – 1,000 horsepower to be exact, with 883 pound-feet of torque. Making those numbers possible is a long list of upgrades and parts, including a new high-flow supercharger and air induction system, a custom Hennessey camshaft, ported heads, an auxiliary fuel system, upgraded valve train, new lifters and pushrods, and an oversized heat exchanger. The upgraded engine exhales through long-tube headers and a high-flow cat, with Hennessey tuning the setup on their dyno to extract every last pony available.

Put it all together, and Hennessey claims the Exorcist Camaro ZL1 will sprint to 60 mph in a mere 2.1 seconds, while scorching the quarter mile in 9.57 seconds at 147 mph and going on to a top speed of 217 mph.

Now, the Texas-based tuner is taking its handiwork for a spin around the local test track, wringing out the V8 down the straights to see how it goes. As one might expect, the 1,000-horsepower Exorcist Hennessey Camaro ZL1 goes quite well indeed, barking a thunderous V8 exhaust note as the technician behind the wheel buries the throttle to the carpet. The test drive includes a run from 60 mph to 140 mph, which the tuned-up Camaro blitzes with ease, as well as a run from a dig to about 90 mph, done in a blink of an eye.

If you love horsepower and the Chevy Camaro, this video is sure to delight. Make sure to crank the volume for the acceleration tests:

keep my Spirit of Ecstasy here at home bought in 1999, sure it is some 22 years old, but for me still actual … remember when working as CAD Designer for GM… god sakes they did not come to me to design such a car… it would have been against internal feelings of love a real intrigue with my own … in fact at my time we made more interesting things

  2. Found a new ZL1 on a dealer lot in Illinois. Trucked it down to Hennessey. Build time about 8 weeks. It’s the one in the video 🙂

  3. If you don’t like this car then you don’t see beauty in a unique automobile… This will one day sell for big money at an auction 25 to 30 years from now… At least this generation know it and will keep Dodge SRT, Chevy/GM performance, Ford racing alive longer! We will never have cars like this again once EV loving leftists have everybody driving an EV car like a false utopian world in Demolition Man!

    1. I agree with you whole heartedly! My 2022 ZL 1 Camaro has finally reached GM Code 4200. Hennessey Performance in Sealy, TX awaits it for their 350 HP upgrade. I think it will only take 5-10 years from now to get big $$$ at auction for any of the Mustang, Challenger or Camaro muscle cars of today.
