The current fifth-generation GMC Yukon hit the scene for the 2021 model year, dropping in with a complete model overhaul for the full-size flagship SUV. Now, with the imminent arrival of the 2024 GMC Yukon, the nameplate is poised to receive a model refresh that will introduce a variety of changes and updates, including a new roof fin antenna.
For the moment, the fifth-generation GMC Yukon incorporates a roof-mounted communications fin antenna, which handles onboard satellite radio (SiriusXM), as well as 4G LTE signal. The current antenna design is fin-shaped, and mounted above the driver on the roof.
Looking ahead, however, the refreshed 2024 GMC Yukon will introduce a new roof fin antenna shape. The revised antenna will incorporate a “puck” shape, minus the pointy bit seen on the current-generation vehicle. The reshaped “puck” style antenna was recently spotted in spy photos of a refreshed 2024 GMC Yukon prototype seen testing on public roads, which also shows that the antenna will once again be mounted on the roof above the driver’s seat.
It’s likely the antenna shape will be revised for functionality and aesthetics, however, the full reveal for the refreshed 2024 GMC Yukon will likely provide more information on the matter.
Notably, the refreshed 2024 GMC Yukon won’t be the only SUV to get a new antenna. In fact, the antenna found on the refreshed 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban will also differ from the current design, as GM Authority covered previously.
Looking ahead, further updates for the 2024 GMC Yukon include new styling for the front and rear fascia, as well as the possible introduction of new autonomous driving features via the GM Ultra Cruise system, which is set to offer greater capabilities than the current GM Super Cruise system with true hands-free driving in 95 percent of driving scenarios.
What’s more, the 2024-model-year refresh will also include the new GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate trim level, which follows the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate in offering high-end luxury features and appointment as the new range-topper of the GMC Yukon lineup.

Probably different frequencies for 5G networks. GM had said 5G connectivity was coming in MY 2024.
The shark fin antennae is out-of-place on the roof above the driver…it’s a blob on an otherwise attractive roofline. Is it a dunce cap? It belongs on the back center of the roof.

However, per the GMC website, the Yukon Denali Ultimate trim level will be introduced fall of 2022, as a 2023 model year offering.
Thanks for pointing that out, post is updated
