The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is the luxury marque’s very first all-electric vehicle, offering the traditional Cadillac luxury and prestige in conjunction with a long list of high-tech features and a cutting-edge, battery-driven powertrain. At launch, the Cadillac Lyriq will be equipped with a single-motor, rear-wheel drive powertrain, while early next year, the crossover will be offered with a more-powerful, two-motor all-wheel drive setup good for 500 horsepower. Now, GM Authority has exclusive details on the upcoming 2023 Cadillac Lyriq AWD trim level.
According to GM Authority sources, the new 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD trim level will feature an 11.5-kW charging capacity that will add up to 30 miles for each hour of charging. For reference, the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition includes a 19.2-kW charging capacity that adds up to 52 miles per hour of charging. Additionally, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD trim level will feature DC Fast Charging capable of providing 76 miles per 10 minutes of charge, the same as rear-wheel drive trims.
Outside, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD trim level will run a set of 20-inch alloy wheels, while 22-inch rollers will not be offered. To note, the Lyriq Debut Edition is equipped with 20-inch wheels as standard, while 22-inch wheels are optional. The Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD will only be available in Satin Steel Metallic (paint code G9K) and Stellar Black Metallic (paint GB8), similar to the Debut Edition model.
With regard to equipment, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD trim level will include the Trailering prep package as standard, as well as Non-illuminated door sill plates (the Lyriq Debut Edition includes illuminated door sill plates). In the cabin, the Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD will include an Auto-dimming rearview mirror, but no Rear Camera Mirror, which the Lyriq Debut Edition includes as standard. Finally, the AWD model will include the Power liftgate without hands-free operation, while the Lyriq Debut Edition has a hands-free liftgate as standard.
Look for the the Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD to become available in January of 2023. Under the skin, the Cadillac Lyriq features GM’s Ultium battery and Ultium drive motor technology, with the BEV3 platform providing the bones. Lyriq production is underway now at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

Okay so through this mess of a sentence….. “According to GM Authority sources, the new 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD trim level will feature an 11.5-kW charging capacity that will add upwards of 37 miles for each hour of charging. For reference, the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition includes a 19.2-kW charging capacity that adds up to 52 miles per hour of charging.”
We learn what we already knew… the 11.5 kW charger is standard and the 19.2 kW charger is optional.
I’ve asked this question several times before but I’ve never gotten a definitive answer:
Since the “DEBUT” edition has more lights, hands free gadgets, and an expensive 19.2 kw charger for $59,990;
Then why is the “Luxury” Rwd edition with no lights, no hands free, and cheaper 11 kw charger also $59,990 or are they going to DECREASE the MSRP since it is a more ‘Decontented’ vehicle?
Lets hope they do. And get the Blazer and Equinox out so I can upgrade my VOLT! I am tired of waiting. BEV3 platform is what I want no intermediate stuff anymore UNLESS they retrofit the old ones with new Ultium too….
Why are they eliminating things in the awd version. I think it should have everything already included in the debut edition , plus. And why can’t we order it in more colors. I see they are offering in in China in 6 colors.
does it have heads up display and adaptive cruise control?
When will the debut edition start arriving at dealers?
Orders take place on May 19th and will start arriving in Dealerships by early next year.
What is GM doing?
I am so confused. So I get way more things if I get the Single Motor but cannot get the same features but just add a second front Motor to make it a Dual Motor BEV?
Why do I need to give up on amenities to get the second Motor?
Can someone explain this or am I totally wrong here and have completely misread the article?
We have to remember that this is the Luxury trim level. In order to not make the AWD model prohibitively expensive, some of the content needs to be stripped out.
That said, there will be room to add it back in, either via standalone packages or higher trim levels, such as Premium Luxury and Sport.
My guess is that the very good deal of getting the AWD for just $2K is part of the reason we are losing some of these thing
I don’t ever expect to tow anything, I I would have preferred the towing as an option (like it is in most trucks) and keep the video mirror and hands free trunk.
Based on what I’m understanding by reading this article, this vehicle is the Luxury model which will start off and then we will get the more expensive models like Premium Luxury and Sport with options. The Debut Edition RWD model was a one year model only. The AWD model will be a regular production model starting off in Luxury so there is no need to get bend out of shape. Just wait getting near changeover to ’23 models start getting built for the rest of the industry and there will be more choices for the LYRIQ.
I don’t like the idea of only two colors and china has six.and what will the premium luxury price start at.I was going to place an order on Wednesday but I don’t know now..
That is Ate Up, the US gets only 2 Paint Colors while China who is threatening to go to war with Taiwan gets 6, I guess we can expect some tremendous Mark-Ups once they arrive at the Dealerships next year too.
The per mile charge rates they mention are for home charging right? I can still take this vehicle to a fast charger on the freeway and charge at 300 miles per hour right?
I’d like to trade in my 2021 Model Y long range but now I don’t know.
To quote Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman: “What a crock of s**t.” In April, I passed on my delivery of a Mustang E In favor of waiting for an AWD Lyriq. Two colors? Less standard equipment and options? UNBELIEVABLE!
No, four colors — and more coming later.
Will the tow package be an option on the RWD? They know people with crossovers use the rear hitch for bike racks right?
Coming soon……….to China!
To clarify, the below* is from the Cadillac website.
1) The included charger has the same charging rate for both AWD and RWD versions.
2) The peak Level 2 charging rate is 30% lower on the more expensive AWD version for some reason. I take it, this is relevent if you purchase a third party level 2 home charger or use a level 2 charger away from the home. I’m sure there was a technical reason for this.
3) The high speed charging rate is the same for both vehicle, which is perhaps more important if you are worried about quick charging on the road.
It would be interesting to learn why they went with the slower level 2 charging for the more powerful AWD vehicle, when it has the same 100kw battery capacity.

CHARGING INFORMATION
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
LEVEL 2 HOME* OR PUBLIC* AC CHARGING
19.2 kW PUBLIC* OR HOME* CHARGER
Up to 52 miles of range per hour of charge (RWD only)
11.5 kW PUBLIC* OR HOME* CHARGER
Up to 37 miles of range per hour of charge (RWD and AWD)
7.7 kW INCLUDED DUAL-LEVEL CHARGE CORD (PUBLIC* OR HOME*)
Up to 19 miles of range per hour of charge (AWD)
Up to 21 miles of range per hour of charge (RWD)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
DC FAST CHARGE PUBLIC* CHARGING STATION
190 kW ACCEPTANCE RATE (MAX CHARGING SPEED)
Up to 76 miles of range in about 10 minutes* of charge time (RWD and AWD)
Let’s put this in perspective. Typical home will have a 50A circuit. From that you can draw 40A in a L2 charger. That gives you 28-30 miles/hr charge. To get to the 50 mile/hr levels you are looking at a 100A breaker. So yes the AWD has a lower rate but in the scheme of things, it is what most homes are able to support. DC fast
charge is the same and that is all that counts in the road.
I just pre-ordered an AWD Cadillac Lyriq. The AWD version costs only $2,000 more than the RWD model. That is achieved by deleting a number of items, none of which I will miss, with the exception of the rear camera mirror. Hopefully that will be optional as my lowly Chevy Bolt EV is equipped with one, and I find it to be very useful.
Why are the 22″ wheels not available on the AWD, that makes no sense at all.
