Last Week To Order 2022 Chevy Tahoe And Suburban In These Two Colors

This coming week will be the final week for GM customers to order the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban full-size SUVs in two of their various available exterior colors.

GM will no longer accept new sold orders for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban in either the Satin Steel Metallic (RPO code G9K) and Cherry Red Tintcoat (RPO GSK) exterior colors after this coming week. While these vehicles will continue to roll off the assembly line at the GM Arlington plant in these colors for the time being, dealers will be unable to register new sold orders for models in these colors after this week.

2022 Chevy Tahoe in Satin Steel Metallic

It’s unclear if the Satin Steel Metallic and Cherry Red Tintcoat two exterior colors will return to the Chevy Tahoe or Suburban for the 2023MY, but it seems unlikely, as they are also being phased out on other GM models after 2022. We already know that the Chevy Camaro, Traverse and Silverado 1500 will lose Cherry Red Tintcoat after 2022, while the GMC Acadia, Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5 will lose Satin Steel Metallic. Moreover, the recently announced 2023 Tahoe and Suburban will receive three new paint colors in addition to Super Cruise.

Cherry Red Tintcoat is a $495 option on the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, while Satin Steel Metallic is one of the no-cost exterior colors. For the sake of reference, here are all ten 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban exterior colors:

  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
  • Auburn Metallic (new for 2022)
  • Dark Ash Metallic (new for 2022)
  • Satin Steel Metallic
  • Summit White
  • Black
  • Evergreen Gray Metallic (new for 2022)
  • Empire Beige Metallic
  • Midnight Blue Metallic
  • Cherry Red Tintcoat

Last week marked the last that GM dealers could place new sold orders for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban in the Evergreen Gray Metallic exterior color, as well. Like Cherry Red Tintcoat, Evergreen Gray Metallic was a $495 option on the full-size SUVs.

Both the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban are available with three powertrain options, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and finally, the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax. Both SUVs ride on top of the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

  1. You can get any color you want as long as it’s black. GM colors are either very dark/black or white. No more middle of the road colors outside of washed out silver.

  2. The best gray GM has ever had. I guess that’s why it’s going away. People like it. They canned it on the Traverse. The best color they had. Makes no sense.

  3. Cherry Red Tintcoat is one of the sharpest colors GM ever put on a car or truck. I hope it’s not being dropped completely.

I have a 21 Sierra Denali in Cayenne Red Tintcoat, the same color and paint code as Chevrolet Cherry Red, just with a different name. Everywhere I go people tell me how good looking it is. I’m not talking about just guys or car people either, but older gray haired ladies, a young woman parking attendant, a neighborhood kid on a bicycle, the girl at the McDonalds drive thru, etc. It’s amazing how often people comment about my truck (my wife’s starting to get annoyed about all these women talking to me). My niece’s husband has a White Frost Tintcoat Denali and he tells me that no one has ever commented on his truck. I was parked next to a Quartz Red Tintcoat (the color Cayenne replaced)19 or 20 Denali recently, and couldn’t believe how much brighter and sharper the Cayenne is compared to the Quartz Red.

Actually, I think maybe I like the idea of discontinuing Cayenne Red Tintcoat, it will make my truck even more unique and distinctive!

  4. I already got my cherry red tintcoat Suburban.
It is real and it is spectacular!
