The GMC Hummer EV is undoubtedly in very high demand, with General Motors recently indicating that it has accumulated some 70,000 reservations for the battery-powered off-roader thus far. Indeed, fans are eager to get one in their garage – so eager, in fact, one buyer recently paid $260,420 for a brand-new 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 in a recent online auction.
Per a listing on cars&bids, the auction concluded with 21 bids placed, while the vehicle was originally purchased new last month. The 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 is the range-topper of the lineup, with MSRP set at $110,295.
Indeed, this isn’t the first time someone has paid out the nose for a new GMC Hummer EV. As GM Authority covered in March, a few examples have popped up on social media with asking prices well above MSRP, including one example priced at $325,000, and another for $310,000. Another example recently sold at the Mecum Glendale auction event in Arizona for $286,000. Recent reports also indicate that some dealers have levied substantial markups, with one customer hit with a $50,000 upcharge, despite General Motors warning dealers against the practice.
Production of the GMC Hummer EV launched at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan late last year. All initial GMC Hummer EV Pickups have been the range-topping Edition 1 model, with recent reports indicating that General Motors will increase production capacity for the GMC Hummer EV Pickup in the near future. Additionally, production of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV will kick off next year.
As a reminder, each example of the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 features Interstellar White paint and a unique Lunar Horizon interior treatment with bronze accents. Standard features include the GM Super Cruise system and Extreme Off-Road Package with 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, underbody skid plates, and underbody cameras.
Motivation is sourced from a GM Ultium battery system and GM Ultium drive system with three onboard motors producing 1,000 horsepower. Estimated range-per-charge is 329 miles. Under the body panels is the GM BT1 platform.

Thank god for rising interest rates.
Already the paying 100k over sticker market is crashing and Doug Demuro did a great video on it 2 days ago.
Evan, thank (God) for rising interest rates? No Sleepy Joe created rising interest rates, along with high gas prices, food, supply shortages the Ukraine war the blundered pull out of Afghanistan, taking sanctions off Iran not to mention forcing EV's on us etc etc etc. But the Hummer is nice but not $260k nice.
The auction prices of hummer's seems to be falling according to the article. I expect once supply starts coming on stronger, they will be msrp at the dealer and below msrp resale. Give it a year. But if you must have one now, expect to pay. Simple supply and demand.
Ummm the free money economy was started under Trump and supercharged by Biden.
Thank god Build Back Better Isn’t happening.
This is proof that some people have more money than brains.
Every single time I see one of these in an article. I think to myself.
6.6 Duramax. Process that for a little while.
Not much longer. The overpay market is crashing.
