General Motors is making moves in the electric-vehicle space by introducing a long list of battery-powered models, with 30 new EVs slated to launch globally by 2025. Naturally, such a dramatic shift towards electric propulsion should be reflected by vehicle styling, and now, we’re getting a look at what could be the future of GMC EV design language with the following rendering image.
Recently posted to the official General Motors design Instagram feed (@generalmotorsdesign), this rendering was created by GM Exterior Designer Zac Parkinson, and shows off the front end of an unnamed GMC Denali EV.
Although the post does not explicitly state that this rendering is for an electric vehicle, it certainly has all the trappings of one. For example, the front fascia is dominated by a large, blocked-off grille with an intricate three-pronged mesh insert design, a layout that follows other GM electric vehicle efforts, such as the Cadillac Lyriq crossover. Bookending the grille are large C-shaped LED lighting elements, which enhance the GMC Denali crossover’s natural width and lead the eye towards to top hood line and centrally placed GMC badging. The lower fascia also echoes the design of contemporary models like the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500.
Moving over into the sides, we see plus-sized wheels that fill the flared-out fenders, presenting a multi-spoke design with a silver finish and low-profile tires. The hood incorporates twin styling elements that add extra length to the hood, while the cabin is pushed way back towards the rear fenders. Speaking of the cabin, the roofline is extremely low, and incorporates styling lines that add to the model’s aerodynamic design elements. Finishing it off is a Denali badge located above the front fender.

Naturally, this rendering design is likely to remain only a rendering, but should provide some interesting inspiration with regard to forthcoming all-electric GMC crossover models, whatever they may be.

Legalizing cannabis might be part of this????
Anyone notice the wheels are octagonal??? it is going to be a bumpy ride
… no, it is not a past Art College Designer Student of Pasadena doing, those of the 1970ies or 1980ies, but for sure an Asia guy, or with bart or mustache from Iraq or Turkey, India,,, who is accepted in some way in USA, did a 1 year online school, and started drawing to Artstation or any other Tutorial guy copying whatever all guys do today, and voilà made an online Portfolio to Detroit or California and at some lucky way, polishing the Apple a GM Manager Employee got the Trainee and it is there, we are then seeing the s’hit … some way this world has 1000 flights around the planet carrying the guys here and there see flightradar you will see all B777 and B787 with them, that is the way, we see digital thing
A robust Lexus grill, and why people are drawn to those oversized grills is a mystery to me.
like an audi front, why guys like an audi front ? sincere do not understand
I know this is just a concept drawing but could this be a GMC EV competitor for the Bronco and Wrangler?
There are some elements here that have a Hummer like look and it appears like it could be a lift off roof panel?
GMC Camaro?🤔
I never knew a Denali could look so fugly.
A rendering or sketch, understood. But god help us if that’s the direction they are going.
So my question is why do all these manufactures feel that just because a vehicle is (or will be) an EV that it needs to look so stupid and different? This is why I really like the Ford F-150 EV truck. It looks normal and nearly like the regular gas truck.
… those small symbols in grille like a mercedes or bmw copy is just ridiculous, do not understand why germans started the lithography stupidity, but no way is beautiful…. indeed very tacky
Yup legalizing pot has really changed things- for the worse if this atrocity is what these young designers are coming up with these days. Is it any wonder there is so much resistance to electric cars?
Nice shot at the future. However big Americans like a vehicle that is ergonomically comfortable which is a rectangular high box design and big 60 / 40 bench seats. Something you can seat your butt in with safety and comfort. Hence the current boxy designs of the Suburban and Tahoe.
I could see the emphasis of the design going towards a more aerodynamic focus. I own a 2022 Bolt and it is like a brick compared to a Tesla. However, even though I really admire Musk as an innovator I can’t bring myself to purchasing one of his Tesla’s because of that centrally located iPad that controls everything. All the anti-gm trolls & Tesla fanatics will slam me but gm did get a lot of the engineering design correct on the Bolt. I also firmly believe that EV’s are not for everyone.
Folks control yourself. This is a rendering that is not to scale and not to be exacting of details. Like most renderings they only hint at some details but are not true representations of what they are planning most of us here should know that by now.
Commenters on this site seem to be getting more ridiculous all the time. Zero common sense. Everything they take so literal.
If you compare current gm Design Studio sketches to sketches from GM designers throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the obvious conclusion is they need to fire their design staff. All of them
Make Automobiles Beautiful Again
… no design departments must close down, because they really have no talent today, just a photoshop in tablet
… and sincere, please spare the money with a CMF department, because any engineer level can do a car black
….. ugly, disproportioned drawing, bad taste, but the guy was hired, so do not expect much in products…
Appears to have been computer rendered by a 7th grader during study hall. Bizarre proportions…might better be submitted to the military as a highly weaponized squad carrier.
