Chevy Bolt EV To Lose Cherry Red Tintcoat Paint Color For 2023 Model Year

The Chevy Bolt EV will no longer be offered with the Cherry Red Tintcoat exterior color from the 2023 model year onward.

The Cherry Red Tintcoat exterior color was added to the Chevy Bolt EV order book for the 2022 model year and was a premium paint option, adding $495 to the battery-electric compact car’s price tag. It was available to order on both the 1LT and 2LT trim levels.

For 2023, the Cherry Red Tintcoat exterior color will be replaced by the new Radiant Red Metallic hue. While photos of the Chevy Bolt EV in Radiant Red are not available at this time, the below photo shows the 2023 model-year Chevy Blazer crossover in this color. As we can see, both Cherry Red and Radiant Red are darker red colors with a metallic finish, although Radiant Red is a touch lighter.

A handful of other Chevy models will also wave goodbye to Cherry Red Tintcoat for the 2023 model year, as we reported previously. This will include the Chevy Camaro, Chevy Equinox, Chevy Malibu and Chevy Colorado.

The closely related 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV is also available to order in Cherry Red Tintcoat. While not yet confirmed, it seems likely the Bolt EUV will follow the Bolt EV’s lead and also replace Cherry Red Tintcoat with Radiant Red Metallic for the 2023 model year.

The Chevy Bolt EV rides on the GM BEV2 platform and utilizes a single-drive electric motor, which produces 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. A 65 kWh lithium-ion battery provides 259 miles of range on a single charge. The closely-related Chevy Bolt EUV uses the same technology, however range sits slightly lower at 247 miles due to the crossover’s added weight.

  3. I am not a Bolt fan, the styling is too uninspiring and I am being kind. I would not be caught voluntarily driving a car that looks like that. However, red tint coat is my favorite GM color so I guess I’m glad they are saving it for better looking vehicles!!
