Many headlines that mention the 2023 Corvette Z06 focus on its new 670-horsepower V8 engine, but this mid-engine supercar is a balanced all-around package that will, without a doubt, be the fastest production Corvette around a racetrack to date. That means the 2023 Corvette Z06 will have more than enough braking performance to back up its straight-line speed, so let’s take a closer look at what its upgraded braking setup entails.
Corvette chief engineer Josh Holder provided a little bit of a backgrounder on the C8 Corvette Z06‘s upgraded brakes during a recent presentation at the National Corvette Museum Bash in Bowling Green, Kentucky. As some readers will already know, the standard braking system on the supercar (RPO code J56) consists of six-piston front calipers with 14.5-inch iron rotors, along with four-piston rear calipers and 14.9-inch rear rotors. Customers will be able to order the calipers for the J56 brakes in standard painted Black, or in Edge Red, Edge Yellow or Bright Red.
Customers that order the Z07 Performance Package will of course benefit from the optional Carbon Ceramic Brake system (RPO J57), which trades the above-mentioned iron rotors for a set of Brembo carbon ceramic 15.7-inch front rotors and 15.4-inch rear rotors. Carbon ceramic brake rotors are extremely lightweight and can also be more resistant to wear than iron rotors, but are of course more expensive to replace. Customers will be able to order the calipers for the J57 brakes in standard painted Harbor Grey, or in Edge Red, Edge Yellow, Bright Red and the new Edge Orange. These will also be offered as a standalone option on the Z06.
Further contributing to the impressive braking performance of the 2023 Corvette Z06 will be its Michelin Pilot Sport 4S ZP tires, or in the case of Z07-equipped models, the specially developed and ultra-sticky Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP tire.
The 2023 Corvette Z06 will enter production at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky later this year. Pricing has yet to be announced.

I agree 100%, I am 71 and on the Z06 order list. Hopefully, we will get pricing and build info in the next few weeks.
The best thing about this article was the title. It was a real attention getter, but the piece fell way short. Nothing anybody didn’t already know except for caliper colors. Ughhh.
The technical term for the actual delivery of a C8 Z06 is: And Monkeys Might Fly Out My Butt.
I am starting to enjoy my 2021 Z51 C8 more and more, with every delay of the Z06. At least I have something to drive,
and I waited over a year for that. It is fantastic, and I will not live long enough to ever see a C8 Z06 get delivered.
And if a C8 Z06 really does appear? Great, but I will have to wait a long time for delivery, all the while enjoying my plain old C8.
