The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 arrives as the fifth model year for the fourth-generation light-duty pickup truck, following up on a full model refresh introduced for the 2022 model year. Among the list of updates introduced for 2022 was the new range-topping Sierra Denali Ultimate trim level, and now, GM Authority has learned that the 2023 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate will soon be available to order.
During an interview with GM Authority, a GMC spokesperson confirmed that orders for the 2023 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate will open up this summer. As a reminder, reservations for the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate are now full, as GM Authority reported last month. Reservations for the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate were previously available through GMC.com, and required a $100 deposit.
With regard to specs and equipment, the new GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate stands apart from the rest of the lineup with a host of high-end touches and upgrades, starting with a signature Vader Chrome grille treatment. The unique Vader Chrome is continued with the GMC badging front and rear, while in the corners, the new GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate rides on exclusive 22-inch low-gloss black aluminum wheels with machined accents.
Inside, the GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate is draped in the new Alpine Umber interior colorway, with full-grain leather seating as standard. The leather is complemented by authentic open-pore Paldao wood trim, plus heated and ventilated 16-way power front seats with a massage function. Infotainment and tech specs are on point thanks to a 12-speaker Bose Premium Series stereo with Centerpoint surround sound and GM’s hands-free, semi-autonomous Super Cruise driving assistant.
As for what’s under the hood, the GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate is motivated by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, which is rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Denali Premium Suspension with Adaptive Ride Control is also standard. The 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, is optional.
Under the skin is the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Silao plant in Mexico and GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana.

If order books open this summer, then details of the new 3.0 Duramax update must be only a few weeks away
I am hoping I can order black wheels , and un-finished black plastic all over the exterior like wheel lip moldings, and a big ol chunk of plastic on the hood, bed steps, bumper steps, and hopeful the BIG Ass door mounted trailer tow mirrors that makes the truck look so cool , and I hope to get the 2″ mud guards in black plastic , and a Big black plastic grill that looks like Garfield the cat smiling , and big black bumper steps , and black door handles , and I’ll order Good for a Year tires , and get some cheap thin seats , and request a car like dash with a mostly black plastic blown interior, and I really want an 8 speed transmission OR should I up grade and get a Fake Allison transmission , or should I order the 6.6 Duramax so GM has to buy it back, and I want a push button start so that I don’t become a dead man from a faulty Ignition like 43 others did. and the last thing I need to order is a really dark color paint to blend with all the black plastic GM ‘s Marry Barry ASS picked for her pickup truck line.
Funny, The “UGLY” 2022 sold out immediately and there is a back log of orders already for the 2023’s. I guess people just love ugly junk !!
Go back to your Toyota site…
Good old mickey, beating that dead horse again I see, or is it called crying? Since were playing the immature name game your Ram looks like a scowling old man, I imagine much like yourself. And your Superduty looks like it has 4 eyes and constipated. All brands use a lot of unfinished black plastic period. It specifically asks if you want painted wheel moldings when ordering so you can stop smoking that pipe. Sure glad your and expert on the new interior since you’ve likely never even been in one. Anyone can memorize talking points about issues various manufactures have had, gold star for you! You say the same old worn out lines in everything you post, but apparently this is how you get your kicks.
Mikey you’re very negative maybe you should go look at the ram or The Ford you could hang quarter panels on the ram In a couple of years and the Fords aluminum body is so fragile contractors want appreciate that
JEFF and Cameron
I own the Ram 3500 top of the line, I own a denali 2500 , and I own a 22 Ford king Ranch 350, all have pluses and minus’s, currently my 2019 denali has 4 recalls with no parts , and a letter I received 4 months ago stating the injectors might fail so government forced them to issue a warantee to 150K on injectors, and you all want to knock mickey , but most of the comments on this site are complaints from GM loyalist and there junk transmissions , ect. You all knock ford on the aluminum panels, and its not something I wanted either, but theres been no problems with them, and I’m on my second Ram I had a 2016 , now a 2021 and love it every mile, most of my compliments are on my Ram. Ford out sells all of them, GM has 8 different brands and is not number 1 on anything. you say the wheel lip molding come painted , they have been discontinued for 8 months now and even if you get painted wheel lip moldings the new 2″ mud guards only come in black and it looks stupid. Bloggers Truckz, old school, shock & Awe , all agree they should be color matched, then the bed steps on the HD trucks, Black grills, bumper steps all look cheap and a eye sore on 85 – 90K trucks . GM is still rehashing there interiors , GM can’t figure out a front end to save there lives, fangs, no fangs, Bow tie up , bow tie down, remove bow tie, put it back, You guys talk Ram, yet in the last 8 years they are kicking ass and taking names, and alot of you GM guys are so tired of the carrot dangling from GM and have moved on to Ram. Ford and Ram dominate towing, peroid. ride down the interstate and it shows. Gm is still using a rehashed duramax from 8 years ago, yet I do like mine as a daily driver, but towing over 12K lb’s it lags and you can feel the difference in Ford 1050 torque and Ram 1075 torque , but don’t worry boys, late to the game GM is coming up with a up-rated motor in 2 more years for 2024, you carrot dangling waiting fools, don’t worry GM will bring out some more dark colors for 2023 and you all will think its the newest greatest thing since Brandon took office.
Idiot…owns every truck ever made…sure.
If GM sold their Trucks like FORD GM would be the #1 Truck seller on the market every year. GM Divides the GMC and Chevy models even though they are built in the same factories on the same line. Add those saled together GM is #1 every year.
Mickey it’s Jeff again Where I live in the northeast to dodge/ram rust out like there’s no tomorrow I don’t care if it’s got a big screen on a dash all this crap is ridiculous anyway also the Mopar has a lot of electrical issues the Ford with the aluminum body is too light when you have to pull a load or push snow with a snow plow I agree they all have issues I’ve got an 08 Denali sierra which is been great no issues whatsoever I have a 19 Yukon Denali with a 10 speed which was built by GM and Ford as a joint venture it’s not bad better than the eight speed As far as the the moldings like on the three-quarter ton with a quarter panel cut outs and bumper cut outs and wheel opening moldings they also need some help we could talk about this over a couple of cold ones
Jeff, Right on, North East is cold 8 -9 months a year, so I see the salt your talking on rust thru. I’m Florida. I ordered mine with the 8″ screen , I like having the AC controls, but Ram 8″ screen sucks with 360 camera’s like I have because of all the functions the screen is reduced. the 12″ screen on the Ram was not for me. My new Ford has a 8 x 12 inch screen, and its so clear you can see a pebble laying on the ground. 100% agree on your 08 Denali is a great truck, its when GM cared. The 10 speed is nice in the Ford over the old 6 speed, and it pulls well, but Ford did not play games stating is an Allison when it is not. I agree , its not bad. I have a 4000 series Allison in My 2022 Freightliner 112 Sport Chassis , and believe me its a real transmission. On Ford and Ram yes they have some plastics, wheel lip moldings are painted on both , they offer two tone and no eye sore useless black bed steps, ect. Nobody uses the bumper steps on a GM truck just like they did not on the avalanche. Escalade EXT never had them either, they are dumb eye sores, then GM comes out with a tailgate step that is completely Flawed have to remove a hitch receiver so it does not get smashed into the paint. we had a 2011 silverado for 4 years , 120K miles, one battery, brake pads, and about 15 oil changes, never a problem,
and I absolutely hate what GM has done to there trucks and all the cheap crap, corner cutting, no wow factor trucks. My 2019 Denali 2500 duramax Reeks cheap at every turn, the plastic crap on exterior, the blown plastic interior, cheap thin seats, little tiny knobs on the dash, plastic door pockets that hold nothing but dust, painted bumpers that chip all to hell, with no option for chrome. I will say Ford got there crap together since 2016, my 22 Has been flawless running since Aug. of last year and 13K miles on it. it is comfortable, fast , pulls well, sits well. The Ram I ordered in 2016 was a 3500 mega cab HO / Aisin Trans, air ride was the recall king with 13 recalls and they backed each one and never left me hanging or broke down on me, ordered a new 2021 Ram 3500 Mega cab HO diesel, air ride in Nov of 2020, received Truck in Jan of 21, and the truck is much improved, only 1 recall for a relay, it has ran flawless and gets the compliments. You order a truck from GM and its a crap shoot for a year. good talking to you Jeff.
Mikey good morning speaking about trim I sold my dad my 99 Tahoe LT still only has 41,000 on it looking at the trim and the interior and the door panels they took some pride Why General Motors did not keep that standard I guess it was the Almighty greenback and we’re too busy on EV cars now and trucks
Your comments are stupid and very juvenile but old guys like you are usually that way. The Ram looks old like you probably do. Go craw back under your rock.
You guys are some kind of ignorant, I’m tellin ya. Here’s a beer, Boys 🫡🫵✊🤙 #christ
Mickie is a KIA that owns every kind of truck made and has to bad mouth GM for ” door mounted mirrors and sissy dashes ” yet he owns a King Ranch with all the sissy dash and wood on the interior or what about his Ram with mirrors that have mirrors that look like wings. Just to clear up something Mickie everyone mounts the mirrors on the doors and every truck built mirrors are plastic. We have read your rederick and if you really don’t like GM trucks don’t buy them so I guess what I am saying is go the f#@k away.
So they will be taking orders for the 2023 Sierra but NOT fulfilling the 2022 orders? I ordered a 2022 Denali with Super Cruise and was told they are short on chips and will not be able to build it unless I remove the super cruise.
This just means you can order the 2023, does not mean they will be building them immediately.
Right now, you cant even order a 2022 Ultimate to be put on a waiting list. Theyre saying theyll open the orders up for 2023 models in a few months.
Safe to assume those that have not received there 2022 Ultimate will be rolled into a 2023 automatically once they make the production line shift into that model year
I’d order a lesser Denali trim without the Super Cruise. Spending $83K on a half-ton truck is not a wise decision.
Good luck to those ordering the 2023 model. I have been waiting since last November for a 2022 model Denali that I ordered
and have just gotten word that it will go out for production in June
Thank you mickey
Good thing Ford or Ram doesn’t have dark colors. And same old $hIt out of mickey mouth who knows everything except that it is ” their ” not “there “.
KEK, You so smart, I’m proud of you !
I’d like to see the changes on the 2023. Will this one come with the max trailing package? I agree with the general tone of – GMC will take an order but – who knows when they will deliver or what you will get. This is no way to operate – too much uncertainty.
I’m waiting for the Denali Ulitmate limited AT4 Pro SLT++Special edition to come out before I buy! haha.
I’d like to see the a truck duty dohc LT5 offered on the premium trucks around 490 hp, sets it apart from the 6.2..
I continue to see commercials and other media advertisements for GM trucks. It would seem as if GM should be prioritizing the production of sold/ reserve orders already accepted rather than trying to appeal to new customers. As I understand it, GM has several thousand customers waiting on sold units. Why aren’t they prioritizing production of these orders, rather than trying to attract new customers? I had someone tell me that after waiting for over three months to receive the Denali 1500, he went to the GM dealership, cancel the order and requested the return of his $1,000.00 deposit. Subsequently, he went and purchased an F-150. I purchased A Denali 1500 in March and placed a $1,000.00 deposit on the unit as well. I will give GM until mid-June, and if I don’t have the truck by then, I’m also going in a different direction. I’m just not waiting 6-8 months on a truck! I think GM should prioritize building units already sold prior to marketing an appeal to sell the 2023 models! “A bird in the hand is worth more than — in the tree”!
Quite a few things wrong with this comment:
1) Are you not aware of the global chip shortage going on? This very website has had countless articles about it and how certain vehicles were even being shipped without features due to it. In this market, waiting 3,6,9 months is not unheard of for any brand.
2) They are prioritizing sold units. Call up any GMC dealership and try to purchase a refreshed 1500 on their lot or in transit. I guarantee you 90%+ are already sold units. Again, see chip shortage issue above
3) Marketing is not something you can just flip on and get customers. They need to continually market even if supplies are limited. Their target audience is not just people who want a truck right this second but the ones that are planning for future purchases. Without marketing, they would miss a whole target demographic.
Yes and she only made about 28 million last year
Dallas GMC – please don’t lecture me about the global chip shortage – I don’t need it as I’m well aware of the chip shortage so you can keep it! You may better utilize your time helping GMC Executives count their millions $$$$ of additional profits being made from sales. GMC Customers are going to dealerships, placing an order, paying a deposit and the dealerships are informing them — “we don’t know when the vehicle will arrive”. This may seem normal & acceptable to you but as the saying goes (in my opinion) “it’s no way to run a railroad”. GMC may be prioritizing sold orders but, I see much, much more information about your so-called “marketing” than I see about keeping customers informed about the status of sold orders. Again, no way to run a railroad! But why does GMC need to care about their customers as long as the millions $$$ of profit keep rolling in?
Profits dealers are making great profits when they mark up vehicles 8 to 10 grand over MSRP lease program stink used cars are bringing a premium
hey at least they are not allowing steep dealer markups, just tried to purchase a Tundra Capstone after getting tired of waiting for my Ultimate Denali pre ordered last year and they are adding $20K on top! simply outrageous
Reserved Denali Ultimate late November order 1/21/22 now told no super cruise period. So any you think you’re getting super cruise in 2022 think again if you don’t have it Now you ain’t getting it. Sucks.
I asked about Max Tow Package and was told it was not available. I consider this a basic option for a truck. This was January-February. I’m on the sidelines until GM gets their act together.
Rob if you could do it wait for the 24s by that time they should have all the vendor issues ironed out and all the options back in the trucks
i am been told a $2K credit would apply for not getting the super cruise option…….
Put my $100 and reservation for a Denali Ultimate back on 11/2/21. Been communicating with the dealer I selected (Midwest region) who has continued to string me along saying “we don’t know if/when GM will give us any allocation” for 6 months now. Every month I am told “we hear it’s going to be better next month” and yet I still cannot even place an order.
I’ve seen multiple comments here from people who have been able to place an order but have been waiting 3-4 months and still don’t even know if their truck will be built, let alone shipped. As soon as I saw this article about opening orders for the ’23s it became pretty apparent to me I won’t be getting the ’22 I reserved any time this year, as I haven’t even been allowed to order it. I guess GM does not want to take my money, and I can guarantee I won’t be seeing that truck in my driveway until after the new year at the earliest since my order will certainly get rolled into the ’23 model year, which won’t start production until fall at the earliest.
Meanwhile, I drove right up the street and ordered a fully loaded RAM 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary edition expected to take 8-12 weeks for delivery. No features/options are “unavailable” due to chip shortages, blah blah… No reservation needed, no waiting just to be able to place an order, no “oh sorry you can’t order it with this package that literally no one would opt out of because “supply chain issues,” no convoluted “oh we don’t know when we might get allocation so just keep waiting in the dark.” We will see how long that 8-12 weeks estimate turns out to actually be, but at least they were able to give me a timeframe and they are actually building these trucks.
I understand the Sierra is a new model truck and SuperCruise is probably a huge part of the delay, so not quite apples to apples; but sure seems like GM tried to rush this thing out with absolutely no game plan on how to actually build them and get them to customers. Meanwhile Stellantis seems to keep on rolling out their vehicles, even top trim models. Love the look of the new Denali Ultimate, but for now I’ll give my money to a company that can actually build me a truck before next year.
Understand and im frustrated with GM as well cancel my Denali ultimate order. Hope you know Dodge will have a redesigned truck out in 2023 or supposed to. And Gm new truck in 2024. The last year on the V8 on supposedly all trucks. And i my be old but don’t like to go slow. don’t want Trx and dodge has the most under powered trucks on the market.
No arguments there… I guess I’m just not too concerned with the numbers, if I wanted blistering 0-60 time I wouldn’t be buying a truck. HP/Torque numbers might be lower than Ford/GM but I haven’t seen many complains that the Ram is underpowered. Or maybe I just like to go slow.
To your point about the upcoming Ram redesign, if I wanted to wait for that I would just wait for the Denali Ultimate I had originally reserved and wanted in the first place. Only ordered the Ram because I’m tired of waiting. Won’t be too long before all these trucks become electrified anyway, and I guess I wanted to get in on a big V8 before everybody stops making them.
Understand your point. Have to have truck in my business. Have a 66 Chevelle that runs 10.21 so have fast car. But still seem to catch myself Regularly in a street race. With a 6.2 GM with exhaust cold air intake and Tuner you can make them run like a scalded dog and improve fuel mph. On a five year depreciation schedule with my company truck which works out perfect with GM because they come out with a new truck every five years had a new one in 2014 have this 2019 and they’ll have a new truck in 2024 which should have one of the last V-8‘s in it I’ll wait till then unless dodge comes out with something that makes me change my mind in 2023. Ford has 30 recalls on their vehicles this year with 3.5 million being recalled more than any other manufacture not doing a Ford.
I ordered a 2022 1500 Denali rush titanium with the Brownstone interior from a premier dealer that was allotted so many at a time in Early February. Given a confirmation number showing it was accepted with code 1100. Initial production date was late April moved a couple time s and produced late May. Event code at 4150. Received gmc confirmation that it is being shipped. From Mexico. I expect the dealer should have it in early July. I have a 2006 2500 HD with the Diesel. 278,000 miles. And 2014 1500 with 85,000 miles. This next Truck will be my last. Will probably sell the 2014. It has the 5.3 wanted the 6.2. Didn’t want the ultimate to much electronics and light interior.. I use the truck for a truck to much. Went in with the expectation of delays. But dealer kept me informed with email, text and calls.
My order for Denali with super-cruise was canceled 3 weeks ago(Placed late Feb). Modified order and removed supercruise. Changed color from Cayenne Red Tincoat(no longer available) to Pacific Blue. Changed engine from 6.2 to 5.3. Order change was May 21st and is now at 2500 stage(1100 just this morning). Hoping it gets to 3000 soon so I know for sure it will be built. Mark-up for a Denali on a lot is over 7,000 if you can find one. Fingers crossed that order gets built!
Local dealership here in Fort Myers ,FL. just called and said that GMC cant even fill the Denali Ultimate order due to chip shortage. Looks like I’ll not be getting a truck anytime soon. I also down graded ( in my opinion ) from the 6.2 to the diesel engine and still they cant even fill the order. Not sure why they would even take orders for 2023 in the summer if they cant get chips .
