GM Authority spy photographers have captured some of the first real-world photos of the 2023 Corvette Z06 in the Ceramic Matrix Gray exterior color.
Our spies already have caught photos of the 2023 Corvette Z06 in the Elkhart Lake Blue, Arctic White, Accelerate Yellow, Amplify Orange, Black and Silver Flare Metallic exterior colors, but this marks the first time we’ve seen the upcoming sports car in Ceramic Matrix Gray. This particular car is a Coupe model equipped with the Satin Graphite Z06 Spider wheels (RPO code SOD), which have a front diameter of 20 inches and a rear diameter of 21 inches. It also features Red brake calipers with the standard iron brake rotors.
In addition to Ceramic Matrix Gray, the 2023 Corvette Z06 will also be available to order in 13 other exterior paint colors from launch:
- Accelerate Yellow
- Amplify Orange Tint
- Arctic White
- Black
- Caffeine Metallic
- Carbon Flash Metallic
- Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic
- Hypersonic Gray
- Rapid Blue
- Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat
- Silver Flare Metallic
- Torch Red
- White Pearl Metallic Tricoat
Notably, this pre-production Corvette Z06 is not equipped with the optional Z07 Performance Package. It’s easy to spot a 2023 Corvette Z06 with the Z07 Package, as this equipment group includes a full carbon fiber aero package with a different front splitter, front-corner dive planes, a much larger rear wing and underbody strakes. These models also receive larger carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires and FE7 suspension with specially tuned Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 dampers.
The 2023 Corvette Z06 will be available in both Coupe and Convertible body styles. Power will come from Chevy’s new race-bred, naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 engine, which produces 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, with power sent to the rear wheels via an upgraded Tremec eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Production of the regular 2023 Corvette Stingray model began at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky on May 16th, with the Z06 set to enter production in the near future. Pricing for the 2023 Corvette Z06 has yet to be confirmed by GM.

May sound like a crazy question, but will the new engine have an economy mode for cruise speed on highways? My C8 boosts highway consumption into the low 30 mpg on trips.
that is a good question. i downloaded the z06 owners manual an d will check. that feature puts our C8 ‘s in q whole new light, switching to V4 mode, the gas mileage is so good it is crazy, comsidering now much fun these are to drive. I was at a dealer showing for Z06, did not think to ask.
The problem I have with DIC mileage is its instant not true actual mileage, dealt with this for over 20 years.
I can get 25-30 instant after I reset it for a short period on my Duramax 3500, tank to tank actual mileage is a different story 11-12.
Agreed mileage is good on these C8’s when you’re in fantasy mode, I’ve elected to not use V4 mode.
Okay, just read the owners manual for the 2023 and DIC and Economy Modes are addressed but not specifically separating any info from the Z06. Other parts of manual show Z06 photos and make reference t Z06 features.
My speculation is that the V4 economy mode will still be there. It makes sense, and I will welcome it.
Pages 94 DIC and 194 Active Fuel Management. Half the challenge is finding their internal technical terms.
And remember: Find and join a NCCC nationally sanctioned Corvette Club.
of note to me on seeing this CMG ZO6 is the outboard exhaust. What gives?
a previuos gmauthority post explained Z06 outboard exhaust will be shipped to countries where certain emissions requirements make it ncessary. USA Z06 in centercexhaust. But tou not seeing things, and there is a reason.
maybe supplier part constraints the reason we still have no price.
otherwise i will be deiving my plain C8 Z51 for longer than expected. Which is not really a problem. I still get a lot of pleasure from my C8
not a fan of that color.
It’s in a bad light. Cloud cover or some kind of photo filter. These pics shouldn’t have been used for this article. Too bad. Sorry!
Several different colors shows in the sun light from different angles it almost looks like a pearl paint job, to me.
I was thinking of orange or red but went with Ceramic Matrix Gray, easier to keep clean looking.
I’ve noticed the other colors the car appears to look a little smaller, I know it’s not but the other colors makes them look that way. To me anyway.
I am not a big fan of the black bat wing on Stingrays or Z06’s. In my humble opinion, solid color looks best.
Z06 , available where ever you get your Unicorns, Dragons, Mermaids, and all other mythical creatures.
Nice color. I like it. Ceramic Matrix Gray. Reminds me of the interior tile color, wall color, and partition color of service station rest rooms in the 1950’s.
You can be sure with Pure.
You can trust your car to the man who wears the star.
Put a tiger in your tank.
Retro is good and it sells.
I would love to see a 1955 Pontiac pink for the Rodeo Drive crowd.
Is this a Z06 or an E-Ray?? The exhaust pipes are on the outer portion of the vehicle instead of centered..
GM announced earlier that the exhaust would be on the outside depending on which country it’s delivered. US models should all have center exhaust.
Maybe a spy photographer can spy an MSRP.
No Z06 badging either???
The intake is the noticeable badging difference between Z06 and stingray. Look closely at the differences between the 2.
Ceramic Matrix Gray, I luv this color this is what I ordered on my 2021 LT2 C8.
A lot of complements on the color from people every where we go.
Did Chevy / GM forget how to mix GREEN??? Hint: Blue + yellow = GREEN.
A few years back, Corvette offered (I think it was called) hunter green. When matched with the buff leather interior it was an eye catcher. Another time, I recall a “British racing green”.
Agree with you
I have 2) 97 Mystic Teal Metallic Camaros. Gorgeous color! Green is my absolute favorite!
Ivan u might be thinking Polo Green. I had a new Vette and a Cadillac STS back in the day both in that color, it was beautiful. Sadly me wife could beat me with her Cadillac. Quick trip to Lingenfelter’s took care of that problem.
The first time I seen the Gray I thought it was pretty sharp but in most lighting it looks like a really light blue. No one color is better than the other, it comes down to what u like.
I like most of u I’m getting a C8 ZO6. It seems like the big problem here is the CF. They have been dealing with that off an on for quite a while now. I’m guessing they can’t price the car until they come up with a supplier and know what it will cost and how available it will be. I see they just dropped the ZL1 1LE rear CF spoiler.
Okay, as all of the old folks are reminiscing about old green Corvette color options does anyone remember “Glendale Green” from the C-2 models? I ended up purchasing a funky bronze colored 63 Split window when I was 16. It was used and the only one that I could afford at the time. If the internet would have existed I would have found me a Glendale Green model.
I’m imaging an Emerald Green Metallic Tintcoat.
Eric that would be beautiful along with a really nice Magnesium wheel like they had on the earlier C5s. Lighter but not as expensive as CF.
As long as we’re imagining just think how cool it would be have some info on the car. Seen enough videos for a lifetime.
