The Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban SUVs both received all-new generational updates for the 2021 model year, with the Chevy Tahoe entering its fifth generation, and the Chevy Suburban entering its twelfth generation. Now, the upcoming 2023 model year will introduce a few noteworthy changes for both nameplates, including the deletion of three specific exterior colors.
According to GM Authority sources, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban will delete the following three paint options (relevant paint codes included in parentheses):
- Satin Steel Metallic (G9K)
- Evergreen Gray Metallic (GED)
- Cherry Red Tintcoat (GSK)
All three exterior paint colors listed above were available for all trim levels of the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban. Cherry Red Tintcoat was offered for a $495 up-charge.
Meanwhile, the three outgoing colors will be replaced with three new hues, specifically:
- Silver Sage Metallic (G6N)
- Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
- Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)
In addition to new exterior paint options, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban will also be available to order with GM’s hands-free, semi-autonomous Super Cruise technology, though not at production start as the feature is currently under constraint due to the ongoing microchip shortage.
Under the hood, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban are offered with three engine options, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline, which is rated at 355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 383 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, which is rated at 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm, and finally, the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, which is rated at 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. All three engine options mate to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
As GM Authority reported previously, production for both SUVs is slated to kick off July 18th, 2022 at the GM Arlington plant in Texas. Both models also ride on the GM T1 platform, and feature a body-on-frame design with an independent multilink rear suspension setup.

When will the LMZ 3.0 be available in the suburban?
Will please show the actual colors interior and exterior for the 2022 and 2023 GMC Sierra pick-ups, and what colors that’s are available.
Wish they brought back the G80 solid rear axle and the 2row Tahoe custom
Deleting the best color available for more shades of rental car silver and grey. general mediocrity strikes again
Cherry Red Tintcoat a head turner on every unit, especially the Large Suvs and trucks. What are they thinking. Agree, if you want black, white and grey, you may be in luck. Sad.
Yea, deleting Cherry Red Tint Coat is just f’n stupid. Blame it on pencil pushers who know nothing about selling a vehicle. Can’t fix stupid
Cherry Red Tintcoat (GSK)
vs
Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
How different are they?? This may be a game changer for me with one on order. 🙁
Me too… Color was dealbreaker for me. It will most likely take months to see anything hit the ground in Radiant Red to know if we want it. Seeing a sample swatch and seeing on a unit are two different things. NOT paying this much for a truck not knowing what I am getting. I was told by one of my dealers that there were no allocations for Cherry Red Tintcoat given for the last ordering week (this week) so it is done. So sad. I agree with some of these other comments I’ve seen. I’ve been watching all the in transit and delivered units for three months in my area, if you want white or black SUVS you may be able find something and in many cases at a premium. Seems Chevy will only build what is easy for them. Almost sorry I got my heart set on a Tahoe.
Hi
I’m in Kurdistan Iraq, can I make order for Tahoe??
Best regards
Speaking of the Chevy 2023 Tahoe, why aren’t they changing out the taillights with LEDs?
Is Chevrolet going to offer light color leather interior for 2023? They only have black or brown in in 2022. I live in Florida. The black is hot and that baby poop brown is really ugly.
Thank you

Why can’t they put the heads up display in the RST or just make it standard on ALL Tahoe/Yukon models
Typical Chevy… geriatric parade!!! Awful, uninspired grandpa rental car colors, do they not conduct research?? Bronco colors, two thumbs up. Sequoia and 4Runner… two thumbs up. HELLOOOOOO, step into 2022! I an on the list for a dark green 2022 but now they aren’t available. That was the only modern color, but they even ruined that a bit because the 2021 teal was better.
i ordered a 2023 chevy tahoe still can not find a color i have a saten steel metallic 2021 trail boss get comments every day ?
