2022 GMC Terrain Denali Gets Specific Headlamp Design

The 2022 GMC Terrain introduces a full model refresh, dropping in as the fifth model year for the current second-generation nameplate. Notably, the 2022 GMC Terrain incorporates two separate headlight designs, with the top Denali trim level offering its own unique headlight design.
Comparing the two headlights side-by-side, we see that the non-Denali 2022 GMC Terrain trim levels incorporate a headlight design with three projector-style inner lighting elements, as well as darker inner detailing between the lighting elements. By comparison, the headlights on the 2022 GMC Terrain Denali incorporate two projector-style inner lighting elements, plus clear / chrome inner detailing between the lighting elements.
To note, the non-Denali 2022 GMC Terrain trim levels include the SLE, SLT, and AT4.
Despite the obvious headlight design differences between the 2022 GMC Terrain Denali and the rest of the lineup, the headlights all have the same product description (LED with C-shaped lighting), as well as the same RPO code (T4L). The functionality is also identical across the trim level range.
Interestingly, these stylistic changes for the 2022 GMC Terrain Denali’s headlights are not unlike those for the 2022 Buick Enclave. As GM Authority covered previously, the 2022 Buick Enclave Avenir is offered with the Avenir Technology package, which includes, among other things, Avenir-specific headlights. That said, the headlights equipped by the 2022 GMC Terrain Denali are not specific to a package, but rather, are included with the Denali trim level in general.
Beyond the exterior styling bits, the 2022 GMC Terrain features just one engine option, namely the turbocharged 1.5L LYX gasoline engine, which is rated at 170 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 203 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 rpm. Output is routed through the GM 9-speed automatic transmission. Providing the bones is the GM D2 platform, with production taking place at the GM San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico.

2022. GMC Terrain Denali the refresh is pretty good looking in my opinion made the front little more aggressive looking the rear of the vehicle hasn’t changed much very little change and interior do like they added oil temperature guage in the cluster information few minor changes but over all nice looking vehicle the down size to the terrain Denali smaller engine less towing capacity if any just wish gm would give you the option to order a 2.0 l engine in this vehicle like they originally plan to add the 2.0 L S Y engine in the terrain but quickly changed the plan and stayed with the 1.5 in this vehicle specially in DENALI trim ????????
Still powered by that pipsqueak 1.5 Turbo. A pile of junk engine.
That’s unprofessional grade.
Terrain with the 1,5 is a piece of junk that GMC wont stand behind and fix. In cold weather it will derate you to crawl speed as the turbo freezes up !!! a big zero on the recommended list
That little motor is what made me go to the 2022 Acadia Denali AWD with the 3.6L V-6 motor. The Terrain motor size was obviously downsized to satisfy Government mileage and emissions quotas. The vehicle will never be more than a two-person & grocery hauler that cannot tow a lightweight trailer.
That’s very sad. I like the Terrain very much but it’s a dog so sorry to say. Why do they do this? It should have at least 220 HP that would make it a no brainer
Just lipstick on a 1.5L-powered pig…
Correct me if I’m wrong. The motor for China has more power than the US. China owns GM. That is clearf to me

I like the triple headlight design in my SLT, but they are not projector style like the author claims. The light output is great.
yea, the non-denali headlight doesn’t look like projectors
Maybe gm might bring back the 2.0 l engine for the 2023 model year the would be a game changer but highly unlikely . And for 2024 the new terrain will only have the one engine option with a hybrid system !!! I think personally the 2.0 went away with the DODO BIRD !!! FOR GOOD !
I hope this means headlight performance is improved in the Denali.
The headlamp presenters seem to have missed the order of importance for safety and performance data. I would rather see comparison charts with similar vehicles in the segment. For want of more accurate DOT regulations, GM focuses on appearance packages, treating headlamps and taillamps like trendy dress-up items that need to be changed periodically. This is simply the old “change for the sake of change” ritual, along with “lost” and “added” color schemes, wheels and tailpipe configurations.
Over 40 grand for 170 HP and the drabest of rental car colors. Now that is sure “professional grade”!
With all these negative comments on the GMC Terrain with the 1.5 engine just wondering if gm team every reads these comments and I bet if they were to listen to the consumer and give them what they want they might be able to compete with the Honda and the Toyota of the world and people might just buy more gm vehicles !!
I like the headlights but I would never purchase a vehicle this large that comes with a 1.5 liter turbocharged motor. As the old saying goes “there is no replacement for displacement”. A 1.5 L is a grenade waiting to go off. I had 3 turbo cars in my life and I got rid of all of them before the mileage hit 60,000. I didn’t trust their longevity and all 3 of the turbos displaced 2.5 L in cars weighing around 3,200-3,400 lbs.
interestingly GM was the first major manufacturer that introduced turbo charging to mainstream U.S. customers: the Corvair Monza and the Oldsmobile F-85. Lowercase gm is doomed to repeat history with all the problems that they had way back +60 years ago.
