The fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 introduces a long list of changes and upgrades over the pre-refresh 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited and 2021 GMC Sierra 1500, one of the most noteworthy of which is the return of the Regular Cab / Standard Bed body style. Now, we’re checking out this customized 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab / Standard Bed that’s hitting the streets with a lowered stance and new aftermarket wheels.
Prior to the 2022 model-year refresh, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab / Standard Bed was offered in other markets, including Mexico and the Middle East, but not the U.S. or Canada. Now, however, the Regular Cab / Standard Bed has returned to these latter markets. And that’s great news for those customizers looking to build a sporty street truck like the example featured here.
The builders started with the base-level 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro, which is the only trim available in the Regular Cab / Standard Bed body style here in the U.S. From there, the customizers added a set of wheels from Cosmis Racing USA, specifically the five-spoke XT-005R rollers finished in Gun Metal with machined lip.
The new wheels look great, but the truck needed a drop to achieve the proper stance. Enter a new IHC Suspension kit, which sits the 2022 GMC Sierra neatly over the five-spoke wheels to achieve a sporty, street truck aesthetic.
The end result looks dramatically different from the factory vehicle, with a clean, straightforward combination of silvers and black that enhances the short, stubby lines of the Regular Cab / Standard Bed body style. Indeed, it’s kind of wild just how much of a difference wheels and a drop can make.
No word on whether or not anything was done under the hood. From the factory, the 2022 GMC Sierra Pro Regular Cab / Standard Bed is equipped with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.

NICE! I hope to see many more regular cab/short beds fixed up in the future now that they are in the US again.
Jonathan, do you think IHC would be upset if you shared which kit was used or is it a secret?
The rear looks stupid. Look at the gap of the back wheels. How can it be that low and have that kind of gap. Oh ya, let’s not forget about the turbo 4 banger.
Pro is an upgradable to the 5.3. The 5.3 and cat back exhaust would make this wicked
Jake, I just went on the GMC website. They only offer the Pro in the turbo 4 banger.
Could those wheels and tires actually be 15″?
Lots of cool except for the goofy little wheels and tires. Fill up the fenders, give it a supercharged 6.2 and I’ll take one.
Lower suspension and a lightweight engine will make this a hoot to drive..
Is this a 2WD?
Yes, 2WD. Who would want to lower a 4 wheel drive truck? I had 3 of the 2WD single cab short bed trucks through the 1990s and still wonder why GM thought nobody would buy them. If they are available in one country, why not everywhere?
Mostly looks good. Rear wheel gap looks messed up. Reference the Colorado Xtreme for the right way to do it.
Agree. I like everything about it except the tire diameter is much too small for the size of the wheel openings. No reason to put such small tires on a truck. Looks silly.
The low profile tire does not quite look right.
Thanks Mary for bringing back the most parking lot friendly and best P/U on the market. If built in Oshawa with a 6.2 option sign me up!
Need to undercoat the rear wheel or something. I think that would improve looks. Or, of course, a bigger wheel or tire.
Rear wheel well liners would do the job.
A black truck would would help the wheel well look.
GMC is the nicest lookin truck on the market…well done on this one looks like California’s style of trucks !
Hope to see them soon at our Canadian dealers soon …
Please GM marketing, this truck needs the L84/10 speed.
When does this get the V8 5.3 or 6.2 @gm #gm #gmc @chevrolet. Ford has theirs out. Will be forced to switch brands if it is not available
Sorry Mary but I waited and waited for an Oshawa build. My new driver is a 5.0 L 10speed 2wd with 450 HP Mustang and learning how to drift. However, will only carry 2 two-fours.
