2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Cayenne Red Tintcoat Paint No Longer Available To Order

The refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 made its big debut in October of 2021, introducing a wealth of changes and updates over the preceding 2021 model year and pre-refresh Sierra 1500 Limited. Now, GM Authority has learned that the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500’s Cayenne Red Tintcoat paint option is built out for the rest of the model year.

According to GM Authority sources, Cayenne Red Tintcoat paint (paint code GSK) is no longer available to order for the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. Looking ahead, Cayenne Red Tintcoat paint is set to be discontinued with the introduction of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. In its stead, the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 will offer a new red paint option dubbed Volcanic Red Tintcoat (paint code GNT).

Prior to being built out for the 2022 model year, Cayenne Red Tintcoat was offered as an optional extra for the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation, SLT, AT4, AT4X, and Denali trim levels, priced at $645. Cayenne Red Tintcoat was not offered for 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro, SLE, or Denali Ultimate trim levels.

As GM Authority covered previously, the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 deleted four exterior paint options as compared to the pre-refresh 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited. These include Satin Steel Metallic (paint code G9K), Dark Sky Metallic (paint code GJI), Ebony Twilight Metallic (paint code GB8), and Brownstone Metallic (paint code GNK). In addition, the 2022 model-year refresh also introduced three new hues to the lineup, including Titanium Rush Metallic (paint code G6M), Dynamic Blue Metallic (paint code GLT), and Desert Sand Metallic (paint code GTL).

  1. I was considering this color but decided against it. I’ve since seen the color in person and I’m not a fan. In certain light, it has a rust tint.

I know I won’t be missing this shade of red on the 2023s.

    2. This article is about the Sierra. Unless I missed it there was no mention on what the Yukon’s color choices are going to be.

  3. Cayenne Red Tintcoat was a great color. I have a Cayenne Red 21 Sierra Denali, and every where I go with it people comment on how good looking it is. I think more people talk to me about my Denali then about my Corvettes.

  5. I have this on my 2022 GMC Sierra SLT Crew Cab and it is amazing, I constantly get compliments on it. GM hit a home run with this one and why they are getting rid of it a mystery to me!

  6. Glad i finally got mine before (GSK) cayenne red Tint coat color was discontinued. my Sierra 1500 SLT crew cab truck was reserved 0n 10/28/2021 it was confirmed, then on 04/18/2022 i could order it from dealer, code 3000 accepted by production control, then i get e-mail from GMC saying it would be built the week of 05/09/2022, next step was 05/19/2022, i got another e-mail stating it was built and in transit. the dealer called me on 05/26/2022 saying it was in Chicago, Illinois and did not know when it be shipped. then the next week on 05/31/2022 the dealer called and said my truck was in and did i want to pick it up. enuf said it sure is sweet .

  7. Was anyone able to confirm how this impacts existing orders without a build date or existing orders in general? I have one on order and am still waiting to find out if the order was accepted (done 5/7 but unknown when the dealer actually submitted it)

  8. How is the Volcanic Red different from the Cheyenne Red? I really liked the Cheyenne red on my 2018 Sierra and am “building” a 2023 Sierra.

  9. Hello, took my truck to a paint shop and they said my 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 is “Cherry Bomb Tintcoat” color. I have my original window sticker and its says “Cayenne Red Tintcoat.” I then looked up Cherry Bomb color and its (WA252F) and then looked up Cayenne and its (GSK/WA252F). Are they the same color?
