The 2022 Chevy Equinox slides in as the fifth model year for the third-generation crossover, debuting a mid-cycle enhancement (also known as a model refresh) that includes a variety of changes and updates. Now, as GM Authority exclusively reported in March, the Redline Edition is once again available for the Chevy Equinox.
As covered previously, the 2022 Chevy Equinox deleted three appearance packages previously offered for the pre-update model, including the Midnight Edition, Sport Edition, and the Redline Edition. Now, however, the Redline Edition has returned.
The Redline Edition package for the 2022 Chevy Equinox is tagged with RPO code WBL, and includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):
- 19-inch Black wheels with Red accents and Black center caps (RZA)
- 19-inch all-season blackwall tires (RR0)
- Front and rear Black bow tie emblems (CG6)
- Redline decals (VUP)
- Black Equinox badges with Red outline
- Redline-specific Black grille
- Black window surround
The 2022 Chevy Equinox Redline Edition is only available for the Premier trim level. The package requires the Jet Black interior color (RPO code HX1). The package is also available in conjunction with one of the following exterior colors:
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (G1W)
- Silver Ice Metallic (GAN)
- Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8)
- Iron Gray Metallic (GIV)
To note, the 2022 Chevy Equinox Redline Edition is not available in conjunction with the Confidence & Convenience II Package (RPO code PCV), Infotainment II Package (RPO code Y3W), power sunroof (RPO code C3U), front and rear Black bow tie emblems (RPO code SFZ), or 19-inch aluminum wheels (RPO code SN7).
Pricing information for the package is currently unavailable.
As a reminder, the Chevy Equinox was originally slated to receive a refresh for the 2021 model year, but due to complications arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the model refresh was instead pushed back to the 2022 model year.
Under the hood, the 2022 Chevy Equinox features the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, rated at 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Providing the bones is the GM D2 platform, while production for the North America market takes place at the GM CAMI plant in Canada and GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

In my area, I’ve seen a Redline Edition of a Colorado Z71, an Equinox, and a Traverse. All of them were in black.
Not ugly black wheels!? Let’s see a Sport with chrome!
This vehicle is not produced at the Cami plant anymore! Last Equinox produced there was on April 29th.
They should have added an upgrade engine such as the 2.0L Turbo or 3.6L.
Yup, all show and no go!
The equinox is ok looking and the redline pkge would enhance the appearance of the vehicle but ii do believe the equinox and its cousin the GMC Terrain should have the 2.0!l engine it would be such a nicer vehicle in my opinion considering the competition they do come with slightly bigger engines then the 1.5 that gm has to offer . Just saying !!!!!
I would like the 2.7 engine over the 2.0!!!
Yes that would be a great option 2.7 would be awesome but in the real world I don’t think it’s going to happen I think unfortunately we are electric bound !!! But it would be nice !
Drove equinox for quite awhile in all.kinds of Michigan weather… Front wheel drive with 1.5 turbo is just not enough. Needs more power plus awd. Car is all slip on ice especially up the the slightest hill or incline. I consider the vehicle in safe…
Chevy making thousands of these low end power motors with not even traction control…

My wife has a 2019 FWD with the 1.5 turbo and here in Indiana it does fine. It got 29 mpg loaded through the Smoky Mtns. No complaints here.
Daily on the website, we see “CLICKBAIT” like this article. There are so few vehicles in the inventory that finding a REDLINE is next to impossible. Order one, sure! My dealer never gets an Equinox allocation, especially for a Premier.
Lots of false promises from Chevrolet.
See the USA in a Chevrolet…if you can find a charging station or can afford a $60K vehicle.
The rich man rides a taxi, the poor man rides the train, the hobo walks the railroad tracks and life will always be the same!
Typical GM “all show and no go” addition to the line….why does GM do this? So many other mechanical upgrades that could really set this vehicle ahead of the competition, but no…GM once again adds a few trinkets here and there, a few new colors and touts this as a big deal. Tsk, Tsk…GM has done this with every “Sport Edition” anything they build, whether it’s a Chevy (all paint and different color wheels…no more power added or way better handling suspension options, true dual exhaust, lower gear ratios ect) or a GMC, Buick, or Cadillac SUV. Okay, maybe they’ve shown a Caddy Escalade with a Corvette engine on video, haven’t seen them at my local Caddy dealers yet (more GM hype) and the same goes for GM’s Light Duty Trucks. Would it hurt for Chevy to add a Corvette “base engine” 6.2 Liter 490 HP to a tricked out “Shorty” bed, maybe even call it a Chevy SS Truck. Stop with the pathetic over priced off road crap where no one or very few actually spend over 70 grand to go off road while beating the dog snot out of their new Chevy Silverado’s!
The “Street” is where it’s at Chevy….build something that will impress the hell out of the average Mr. and Mrs. Public that can be used daily without costing a King’s Ransom! Just say’n…a Chevy SS pickup that handles and “goes like a bat out of hell” would certainly bring me to a Chevy Dealer with cash in hand. I could use a truck like that…could tow my small boat or any one of a hundred different items, take it to Cars & Coffee events, cruise it to cool places…and when the need arises, maybe even show up at a local drag strip where I could run some high 12 second ET’s!
Come on Chevy…quit “screwing the pooch” with your “decals and black out trim options” and build some note worthy Street Machines that can “carve out a canyon or repave a drag strip”…you’ve got the performance options hidden away someplace that could easily be added to various models and this would draw new customers to various GM showrooms.
Then again, this is GM we are talking about, right? Except for the “Mighty Corvette” when had GM actually added a big helping hand of Performance Options to anything else they build lately? Yep, that’s what I thought…’fo get ’bout it.
I want to see the new regular cab short bed with the 5.3. Make it low and sporty with chrome wheels (SS)! Now that would sell fast, I would order one tomorrow!
This would bring back good memories of my first new Chevy truck. When I graduated from Purdue in 82 I celebrated my diploma and new job by purchasing a new S-10 Sport from the dealership showroom. All of the bells and whistles, short bed, V-6, two-toned with factory wheels, and buckets ($9911). It was a head turner. I traded it in on a new Pontiac Fiero in 84 ($11,00?). Another cool machine in the day.
