2022 Cadillac Escalade Unavailable To Order With Super Cruise Once Again

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade is once again unavailable to order with GM’s semi-autonomous Super Cruise feature, GM Authority has learned.

As of the May 9th production date, all 2022 Cadillac Escalade units that are normally equipped with Super Cruise will not be built with this feature. Some readers may recall that Super Cruise was pulled from the Cadillac Escalade order books between October and early December of last year, so this isn’t the first time that GM has experienced a supply issue for its hands-free highway driving assistant. It seems likely that Super Cruise’s availability problems stem from the ongoing semiconductor shortage.

Super Cruise has been offered as standard equipment on the Cadillac Escalade in the Premium Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury Platinum and Sport Platinum trim levels since it became available again on December 6th. It’s not offered on the entry-level Luxury trim in any capacity.

Oddly, on the brand’s consumer-facing website, Super Cruise has become a $2,500 standalone option on their 2022 Cadillac Escalade, instead of being a standard feature. It’s currently unclear when it will return to the Escalade across the four aforementioned trim levels.

Super Cruise is also currently unavailable to order on the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 luxury sedans but is still available to order on the Cadillac XT6 three-row crossover. Similar to the Cadillac Escalade, the Cadillac XT6 is only available to order with Super Cruise in the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels only, leaving out the base Luxury trim level.

Production of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas alongside the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. For the 2023 model year, the full-size luxury SUV will introduce a new Escalade-V model that will appeal to performance enthusiasts with its standard supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine, which is rated at 682 horsepower.

  1. So here I am willing to spend $140k Can and they offer super cruise to some lower priced cars. Does that make sense Cadillac?

Can I order it and they can add chips later on? Maybe ship with all the other sensors like the one on steering?

  2. GM Authority please use your inside contacts to tell us what the future holds. I don’t want to order my Escalade without SC. This article does not mention anything we don’t know just by trying to Build it Price it. Please 🙏 find out can we order it now and have it added after receiving the car. In other words, maybe have l the equipment e.g, steering with camera delivered with car and just the chips added later? Thanks
