2006 Hummer H1 Alpha Sells For $236,500 At Barrett-Jackson: Video

A brand new 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 sold for an eye-watering $286,000 at a collector car auction in Arizona earlier this year – a surprising result considering GM’s suggested retail price for its new battery-electric truck is just $112,595. It seems Hummer enthusiasts have no problem paying steep six-figure sums to get the vehicle they want, though, because a 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha just sold for $236,500 at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach.

That may seem like a lot of money for a Hummer H1, but the 2006 H1 Alpha is actually quite rare. The H1 Alpha lasted just a single model year, with 729 units rolling off the AM General assembly line in Indiana, of which 417 were wagons like this model. The H1 Alpha was a heavily re-engineered take on the army-bred H1 that replaced the Hummer’s old V8 engines with a 6.6L LLY Duramax V8 turbodiesel engine and five-speed Allison transmission. GM also fitted it with additional chassis bracing, a different power steering assembly, quieter axle differentials and different electrical and fuel systems.

This H1 Alpha has been fitted with a variety of aftermarket parts including different wheels and tires, a roof rack, LED light bars and a winch kit. Inside, the previous owner appears to have gone a bit mad installing various LCD display screens in the roof and front seat headrests, which are complemented by a satellite dish of some type, according to the listing. A rear-facing jump seat provides seating for an additional passenger, although it doesn’t look very comfortable. At least we know they won’t be hurting for legroom.

Check out the video embedded below to see this 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha cross the auction block and sell for a surprisingly high hammer price at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach.
