Tornado-Damaged 2022 Corvette Units Parted Out On eBay

An Ohio-based auto wrecking yard is selling various C8 Corvette Stingray interior and exterior components on eBay, which seem to have been taken off of vehicles that were damaged in a tornado last year.

A major storm touched down in Kentucky last December, severely damaging the GM Bowling Green plant, as well as various unfinished C8 Corvette Stingray units that were stored both inside and outside of the facility. A truck hauling damaged and/or incomplete Corvette bodies was spotted driving on the highway in Ohio not long after, prompting speculation that GM had sent some of these damaged Corvettes to a wrecker to be scrapped. While we can’t confirm that particular sighting has anything to do with these new eBay listings, it’s somewhat curious that the seller, Stricker Auto Parts and Service, is also located in Ohio.

A wide variety of components are being offered by this seller, including interior and exterior trim pieces, side mirrors and mechanical components like axle shafts, brake rotors/calipers, wiper window motors, nose lift pumps, suspension assemblies and steering gears/racks. There are even some electronics on offer including audio equipment, a head-up display projector, a front windshield-mounted camera and a digital instrument cluster.

These parts could be useful for C8 Corvette owners who are repairing their vehicles themselves, or for third-party shops that may be attempting to repair a customer’s car. Finding repair parts for the C8 Corvette can’t be easy at the moment, seeing as the vehicle is in high demand and has experienced parts shortages that have hampered and delayed production output at the Bowling Green plant. Production of the 2023 Corvette is set to begin at the Kentucky facility on May 16th after it was pushed back from the original start date of May 9th due to prior parts shortage.

  1. Most likely these car were contracted to be crushed.
Many times money changes hands & things don’t go according to agreement.
Rather see them bough for parts & used, rather than crushed.

Years ago…back in the 70’s, GM would send cars directly to the crusher with 3 upper level employees with 35mm cameras to record the destruction. Seen it 3 times. Makes you sick to see it happen!
