Scrape Armor Offers Front Splitter Guards For C8 Corvette Stingray

Washington-based aftermarket company Scrape Armor has begun offering a series of splitter guard products for the C8 Corvette Stingray.

These products are designed to screw into the underside of the C8 Corvette Stingray’s various front splitter designs, protecting the splitter from becoming scraped or damaged as the vehicle goes over speed bumps or enters a driveway or parking lot. The splitter guards are made from so-called TekLite polymer, which Scrape Armor says is a “proprietary plastic specifically formulated to reduce surface friction,” and ensure the plastic splitter guard easily slides across the surface of the pavement. The guards use the OEM mounting holes and hardware and don’t require the customer to drill additional holes in their splitter for installation.

Scrape Armor offers three different underside splitter guards for the C8 Corvette Stingray. This includes a guard that works with the factory front bumper with no splitter, a guard for the small Z51 front splitter and a larger guard for the more pronounced 5VM/5V8 aerodynamics package splitter. The guard for the 5VM/5V8 splitter is compatible with both the exposed carbon fiber aero package (5VM) and the Carbon Flash painted aero package (5V8). The guard for the base bumper with no splitter costs $449.95 on Scrape Armor’s website, while the Z51 and 5VM/5V8 guards are priced from $549.95.

It’s worth pointing out that these Scrape Armor splitter guards are also available to order via the GM Accessories catalog, if C8 Corvette Stingray owners would rather purchase it through Chevy than from the supplier’s own webshop. The price from Chevy Accessories is the same, with GM charging $449.95 for the regular guard and Z51 guard and $549.95 for the 5VM/5V8 aero kit guard.

  1. Tough call here, at this price , the basic guard seems to cost about what the splitter costs.
The more expensive splitters would benefit. The C8 with no front lift would benefit.
I sometimes wonder if C8 owners are being charged unusually high prices for inexpensive
    add ons.

  2. The front lift option, combined with experience in driving a low car, has saved me from
scraping the front. The one time I made contact with the ground was in a hurried situation in traffic, in a place I was not familiar with, and I failed to press the lift button. And that mistake was fixed with a quick wipe of some 220 grit sandpaper on the stock Z51 plastic splitter.

  4. The most ridiculous option on a car is a carbon fibre splitter. Despite how careful you are, one day you will scrape it unless it never leaves your garage.

Splitters should be cheap, but sturdy easily replaceable plastic. The all do the same job regardless of material. Carbon fibre is a type of plastic.

    1. That’s why I went with a plastic (painted carbon flash color) splitter on mine, even though most everything else on my car is carbon fiber. Wasn’t worth risking damaging the expensive plastic piece when there’s a cheaper plastic piece available.

    2. Jay Leno says exactly the same thing about carbon fibre splitters
