The 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 is the top off-roading trim level for the eighth model year of the second-generation nameplate, offering impressive rough-stuff prowess and style wrapped in a familiar midsize pickup body style. Now, GM Authority has learned the final 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 build date.
According to GM Authority sources, the build-out date for the 2022 model-year Colorado ZR2 will be December 5th, 2022. As such, production of the 2023 Colorado won’t start before mid-December, at the earliest.
Production of the Chevy Colorado ZR2 takes place at the GM Wentzville Plant in Missouri.
As GM Authority has covered in the past, General Motors is developing an all-new third generation for the Chevy Colorado pickup, set to debut for the 2023 model year. The new third-gen Colorado will introduce a completely new exterior design and an overhauled interior, as well as a heavily revised (albeit not all-new) platform, an all-new powertrain lineup, and new active safety features to boot.
For now, the 2022 Chevy Colorado is the final model year for the current second-generation pickup. Engine options include the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine, rated at 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, connecting to the GM 8-speed automatic transmission, and the 2.8L I4 LWN turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, connecting to the GM 6-speed automatic transmission. Both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are offered.
With regard to the 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 specifically, standout features include the aggressive Off-Road Appearance Package and Off-Road suspension, the latter of which incorporates MultiMatic DSSV dampers. The Colorado ZR2 also features enhanced ground clearance and a wider track, as well as an Autotrac 2-speed transfer case and underbody protection with a transfer case shield. In the corners, the 2022 Colorado ZR2 rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires.

Buy-buy 3.6. Been a good run.
They keep pushing back the start date, way to lose more customers.
They aren’t losing anything. You are clueless.
IIRC they are discontinuing the Diesel in June so anything ordered or built after that date won’t have the Diesel available. I guess the only option will be the V6.
Or the 2.5. After 2022, there will be no more naturally aspirated 4 cylinder vehicles left in gm’s United States portfolio. The spark is dying off, and with it the trax/encore, so gm will have no 1.4’s in the U.S. either. Things that I am curious about; will the Silverado/Sierra get the 10 speed behind the 2.7 when the new Colorado/Canyon debuts, will the Express/Savana get the 2.7 and 10 speed to replace the 4.3 with the 8 speed, will the Express/Savana get the 3.0 duramax when the 2.8 duramax runs out, will the 6.6 ever get the 10 speed for the Express/Savana and HD trucks, will the Equinox ever get the 9 speed, and will the 2.7 ever go fwd to replace the 3.6 or will they up the boost on the 2.0 to replace the 3.6?
Factory ordered a 2022 ZR2 in December 2021…it’s been 4 months now and I’ll continue to wait…I want a ZR2!
