Here Are The 2022 GMC Acadia Towing Capacities

The 2022 GMC Acadia is the sixth model year for the latest second-generation nameplate, introducing just a handful of minor changes and updates as compared to the previous 2021 model year. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the 2022 GMC Acadia with regard to the crossover’s towing capacities.

First things first, we should go over the powertrain options offered by the 2022 GMC Acadia, starting with the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine. Output from the LSY is rated at 228 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm, with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission onboard for cog swaps.

The 2022 GMC Acadia is also available with the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 271 pound-feet of torque, once again mating to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are offered. Also of note is the available Trailer Tow Package (RPO code V92), which includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Factory-installed hitch
  • 7-pin wiring harness
  • Class III hitch
  • Heavy-duty cooling system (V08)
  • 170-amp alternator (KW7)
  • Hitch Guidance with Hitch View (PZ8)
  • Hitch Guidance (CTT)

Pricing for the 2022 GMC Acadia’s Trailer Tow Package is set at $650. For SLE trim levels, the tow package requires the Driver Convenience Package (RPO code ZQ2), priced at $1,750. For Denali trim levels, the tow package is also included with the Denali Ultimate Package (RPO code PEC), priced at $5,045. Furthermore, SLE trims require the Infotainment Package (RPO code Y29, priced at $995) for the Hitch Guidance with Hitch View (RPO code PZ8) feature and Hitch Guidance (RPO code CTT) feature.

With that covered let’s check out the full breakdown for the 2022 GMC Acadia towing capacities:

Notably, without the tow package, 2022 GMC Acadia models with the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine have a higher maximum trailer weight than models with the V6, with the former rated at 1,500 pounds, and the latter rated at 1,000 pounds.

As a reminder, the 2022 GMC Acadia rides on the regular-wheelbase-variant of the GM C1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Spring Hill Plant in Tennessee.
