The GMC Sierra MultiPro tailgate is designed to make life easier for truck owners by bringing greater configurability to the traditional pickup tailgate design. Similarly, the Sierra’s available CarbonPro bed can also make life easier for tradesmen, contractors and general truck users by providing them with an ultra-tough, lightweight pickup bed with additional cargo volume and more tie-down points.
GMC continues to keep these hard-working professionals and trail-goers in mind when designing new options and features, as the premium truck brand has just announced a new ShowerPro technology. The ShowerPro system is integrated into the GMC Sierra’s bed and MultiPro tailgate, with the MultiPro assist handle carrying water to a foldable and stowable shower system.
Water is fed by an integrated system, drawing from a five-gallon water tank placed under the truck. An auxiliary heater is present to warm up the water in the piping before it exits the showerhead, delivering clean, warm water for the user to shower under.
The technology is intended to appeal to contractors who may get especially dirty while on the job site, giving them a place to catch a quick shower before they go out to meet friends for the evening. Another popular use case can be for campers, who could use a nice shower after a long hike back to the campsite.
“Our team at GMC continues to come up with new and novel ways to make customers’ lives easier,” GM spokesperson April Firths said in a prepared statement. “We already demonstrated our commitment to improving our customers’ ownership experience with technologies like MultiPro and CarbonPro, and ShowerPro serves as further proof of our dedication to the truck world. We can’t wait for GMC owners to experience ShowerPro for themselves,” she added.
GMC ShowerPro will be an optional extra offered on the light-duty 2023 GMC Sierra 1500, as well as the 2023 GMC Sierra HD. Pricing has not yet been announced. We’ll provide more details when we have them, but in the meantime, Happy April Fool’s Day, GM Authority readers! We doubt GM will actually be implementing a factory-installed shower into its products anytime soon, but thankfully real tech like the MultiPro tailgate and CarbonPro bed already make owning a truck quite a bit easier and more convenient.

Imagine me pulling up to the red carpet with that ShowerPro in it. Or doing some burn outs!
Hey up here in Canada during the height of Covid! We had to change in the parking lot before we into the rink to play! Afterward, we would be washing up with water bottles extra before we got back into our trucks. I could have charged guys for a shower. Will have to keep this in mind for the next pandemic!!
