GM Files To Trademark Buick Envision GX Name In The U.S.

General Motors has filed to trademark Buick Envision GX in the U.S., GM Authority has uncovered.
Filed on April 11th, 2022 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the application is assigned serial number 97356806. The application carries a Nice Classification category of 12, which is reserved for motor land vehicles of various types.
We believe the Envision GX name will be applied to a three-row version of the Buick Envision. The three-row Buick Envision Plus was introduced in China last year, which we initially believed would be called the Envision GX before GM opted for the Envision Plus name instead. So while the three-row Buick Envision GX has yet to be confirmed by GM, this trademark filing brings us one step closer to that confirmation and is a likely sign that the vehicle’s debut will occur in the not-too-distant future.
The Buick Envision GX would slot in between the compact Envision and the full-size Enclave in the automaker’s lineup. This is similar to how the Buick Encore GX bridges the gap from the subcompact Encore to the compact Envision. This two-pronged model strategy allows Buick to introduce additional crossover models to its lineup without overcomplicating its strategy and having similarly-sized vehicles with completely different nameplates.
The Chinese-market 2022 Buick Envision Plus is available with a 2+3+2 seating arrangement, incorporating a three-seat second-row and two-seat third row. The second-row seat can slide up to 9.8 inches forward and backward, enabling easy access to the third-row seat. The max cargo volume also grows from 52.7 cubic feet (1,492 liters) in the standard Buick Envision to 58 cubic feet (1,642 liters) in the Envision Plus. This is the vehicle’s cargo volume measured with the two rear rows of seating folded down.
GM Authority will have more details on the future Buick Envision GX as its introduction approaches. In the meantime, be sure to subscribe to GM Authority as we bring you the latest Buick Envision Plus/GX news, Buick Envision news, Buick news and ongoing GM news coverage.
Great…another Chinese built GM vehicle. Just what we need.
Build the Envision in North America (US, Canada, or Mexico), and get rid of all of the piano black trim in the interior. Then you will have something really compelling with this model. Adding a 3rd row to what is already a smallish vehicle is just pointless…I would rather spend more for a base Enclave or go next door to the Chevy dealer and buy a Traverse.
You might not need it but there’s a market for them and people will buy it just like the Envision.
Do you think it will be produced with Buick’s “new face,” as on the GL8 Flagship Concept? Or as is pictured above?
Gm was going to Trademark their Killer Ignitions…
They settled for a Patent.
Is Queen MaryB & the clueless overpaid paper pushers in those hideous Ivory Towers in Detroit AWARE of the ban on most all Russian EXPORTS around the world due to Putins incredible miscalculation & war crimes against civilians in Ukraine??? So what happens when “Chairman Mao” Xi attacks Tiawan and commits war crimes against civilians there??? Enjoy your CCP “Envision” sheeple!!
Send the PHEV Cadillac CT6 to America now.
I think as an option to the current Envision this is ok, but they ought not to push the third row as a standard feature. Make it an option, not in great qty. The benefit here would be a 2 row with good trunk space.
Buick badly needs a real larger Ford Edge / VW Atlas Cross sport size / XT5 size 2 row vehicle. The Envision isn’t large enough to compete that way.
Keep updating or redesigning the Enclave for the serious 3 row crowd as required. At least put a 10 inch screen in the Enclave.
Like a lot of posts on the Envision, GM needs to make the US version in the US or Canada or they are going to face headwinds to peddling this vehicle in America. One man put things well. What happens when china attacks Taiwan in a few years and we go through a similar economic deep freeze with china? This vehicle will probably not even be able to be imported to the US when that happens and any parts that are reliant on a chinese supply chain will be disrupted. then we all will be kicking ourselves for having supported china by buying their products which financed their authoritarian government. it will be akin to everyone trying to suddenly do without russian oil over ukraine. its better to not be reliant on china for anything or diminish the list as much as possible. For that reason and also because i worry about the quality, i would never, ever buy a car of any brand made in china. I rather look at the often overlooked old school premium brand, Lincoln. They have got some seriously nice vehicles these days. I think they definitely surpass Buick and even Cadillac. Customer satisfaction surveys seem to indicate owners are happy with them also. the only downside with Lincoln currently is that when they are totally larded up with all the bells and whistle’s and gadgetry, they seem to have more issues. You have to buy those cars with their mid range equipment. the car will cost less than the loaded version and not have as many glitches. but i would definitely prefer a Lincoln Nautilus over this cheap china made buick envision
“Or face headwinds”? They’re doing just fine selling the Envision. It sells better compared to Lincoln/Acura/Infiniti competitors and is clearly profitable for Buick. And has been posting increases in sales year after year despite Covid.
I had the 2019 Buick. I was going to purchase the 2022 Buick Envision untill I found out it was made in China.
GM please make your Envision in the U.S. Your loosing customers. I went with a Toyota…food for thought!. People in the U.S. are tired of Russia and China. We need to build in U.S.A.
Enough said!!!
It’s a shame when people’s start seeing Touyota as more American than gm. Heaven help gm if they ever need more help from the government like they did in 2008. I am sure the fact that most of gm’s CUVs are made outside the US will be thrown in their face.
This is another example of US manufacturers helping kill the US economy along with their leftist “America 2nd” politicians in DC.
Looking to replace my 2020 Enclave with something a little smaller. Bad enough I’d be limited to a 4-banger. Now China? NOPE. After 50 years, I may be bailing on GM altogether.
I bought the Envision 21 avenir. I truly am impressed with the looks inside and out. Completely remodeled
Only, suggestion. Little more hmph. I’m no mechanic by any means. But putting an extra 50hp would put the cherry on the cake. My wife has a Mazda cx9. The sky active technology they have there really makes that dog hunt. Buick. Good job. Envision is evidence. You’ve come away from the bean counters. Yes, even if it’s manufactured outside the US.
