I’m curious how (or why) GM is offering discounts on 2022 Bolts when many dealers have Bolts on their lots but can’t sell them. Are dealers able to sell their Bolts as soon as the old batteries are replaced or is GM waiting for some kind of OK from NHTSA or some other group? I’m very interested in buying/leasing a 2022 Bolt but have no clue when my local dealer will be able to sell one (I’m in New Hampshire). Thanks for any insights on this (no pun intended).
Go talk to your dealer that has the stock. See if you can put a deposit on one to hold it until they can sell it. They key is to go talk to them in person. Build that interaction. Let’s them know you’re local and seriously interested.
Lots of dealers will take reservations. Problem is be it used or new Bolt sitting on lot has not had battery remedy as yet. With new Bolts being built as I type, I contacted two local dealers in Southeast Florida and they are stuck with Bolts on their lot they cannot sell till battery replacement.
Jonathan: I hear ya brother! I just got off the phone with two dealers in Southeast Florida. They too are still under STOP sales order and have Bolts on their dealer lots. They also are being compensated by GM for STOP sale order from day one. It is my understanding while batteries are being replaced on current owners/lessees for 2017-2022, those buybacks that some owners/lessees elected to do are sitting on lots with reservations yet those vehicles have not had their batteries changed as yet and rightfully so since current owners/lessees are priority. It is my further understanding NEW Bolts are being built as I type.
I just test drove one Saturday at an Indianapolis south east side dealership. They’ve marked their bolt EV up quite a bit with paint protection window tent etc. Perhaps a couple maybe $3000?.
I live in the north. No heat pump, no interest in the EV. I “got along” with my previous EV on heated seats b/c resistive heater system killed range by >25%. No more.
Preconditioning works for 1st 10 miles; an 80 RT mile commute leaves 70 miles burning the extra power.
Make heat pumps available as option or or plan on selling them at BIG discounts due to poor winter range.
