For the sake of presenting a more complete picture of the competitive landscape, we’ve provided sales figures for the Lexus RX. Though the RX is a premium midsize CUV slotting in the luxury utility D-segment, competing with the Cadillac XT5, the vehicle is now also offered as a three-row model called RXL, which competes with the three-row luxury models mentioned above.
Since Lexus does not break out sales of the two-row RX from the three-row RXL, not all RX sales can be applied to the premium three-row CUV segment. A more appropriate comparison would be to bundle Cadillac XT5 and XT6 sales. We’ve also included the Lincoln Nautilus and Aviator, which are direct rivals to Cadillac’s two models, respectively.
Combining sales of the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 results in 8,773 units, amounting to less than a third of the 26,795 RX deliveries.

The luxury E-Segment utility segment contracted 14 percent to 81,271 units in Q1 2022, meaning XT6 sales significantly underperformed the segment average.
The GM Authority Take
Although Cadillac XT6 sales had nearly the worst decline in its segment this quarter, it actually moved up a spot in the rankings compared to a year ago and two spots since last quarter.
The decrease in XT6 sales is the direct result of idled production at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee for the better part of the 2021 calendar year due to ongoing supply constraints, including but not limited to the global semiconductor microchip shortage. During this time, GM elected to allocate its limited supply of semiconductors and other parts toward the assembly of more profitable models like its full-size trucks and SUVs. However, XT6 production finally resumed in full on December 6th, 2021 and we expect XT6 sales to improve as inventory ramps back up.
The 2020 Cadillac XT6 was the first model year for the all-new, three-row luxury crossover utility vehicle (CUV) from the automaker. Two years later, the 2022 Cadillac XT6 can now be ordered with GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous hands-free driving system. The 2022 XT6 also features more standard advanced safety features along with several other changes.
It’s also worth noting that the luxury E-Segment utility segment is highly competitive, but one new entry – the Genesis GV80 – was able to make a dent after its initial launch. Meanwhile, the completely overhauled 2022 Infiniti QX60 has yet to make a sales impact.
As is the case for many models in GM’s vast portfolio, if The General can just build enough units of the XT6 to meet true market demand, sales will see healthy growth.

If we’re going to quit cars to build these things shouldn’t we at least aim to be in the top 3 sales wise?
It’s sad to see quarter sales volume is similar to monthly volume of the Escalade.
GM will Kill-off Cadillac shortly…
GM has been Killing brands almost as fast as they’ve been Killing Americans. GM has completely destroyed Cadillac, leaving a few stragglers willing to suffer the consequences of handing money over to a corporate Killer. It will be over soon.
Oh, but remember: ‘GM is the EV Leader’
Wow, I am shocked lol
But some here actually believe that the XT6 is better than the Mercedes GLE…..floored by this report HaHa
What this needs is serious mid-cycle refresh to look like an “Escalade Jr” and possibly even a re-branding to another name, now that Cadillac has decided it wants names again for the next 20 minutes….until they change their plan again.
-Restyle it like an Escalade, inside and out, including the big screen across the dash.
-Add twin turbo option for gods sake, your charging $60k for these things…..give people some hp over a Traverse.
-Rebrand it to “Escalante” or something that sounds like Escalade, similar to how Lincoln did with Aviator/Navigator/Alligator etc….
-Watch them move off the lot at a rapid pace
-Profit
