Artist Imagines Mid-Engine Third-Gen Chevy Camaro With A ZZ632 V8

A popular digital rendering artist on Instagram has used talents to envision what a third-generation Chevy Camaro would look like if it had a massive ZZ632 crate engine from Chevrolet Performance mounted midship.
This project reminds us of Hoonigan’s special project for the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, which saw the automotive media company drop Chevy’s new ZZ632 crate engine in the front of a third-generation Chevy Camaro. Obviously, this car has moved the 10.3L Big Block V8 from the front of the vehicle to the middle, with the crate engine now visible through the vehicle’s large rear hatchback window. A sizable roof-mounted air intake, along with a pair of rather subtle side intakes, help ensure the motor has an ample supply of outside air despite its unconventional mounting position.
The wheels are another interesting aspect of this design. They appear to pull inspiration from one of the stock alloy wheel designs offered on the third-generation Chevy Camaro, but are slightly larger in diameter and have a deeper, more pronounced dished shape. A full exterior lip kit, a rear lip spoiler and a vented hood (which is present despite the absence of a front-mounted engine), complete the package.

As many GM Authority readers will already know, the ZZ632 crate engine, which debuted last fall at the 2021 SEMA Show, is the largest Big Block crate engine currently offered by Chevrolet Performance. It produces a head-spinning 1,004 horsepower and 876 pound-feet of torque on 93-octane gasoline, with peak power arriving at 6,600 rpm and peak torque coming online at 5,600 rpm. The recommended redline for builders is 7,000 rpm. It’s safe to say that this engine would provide plenty of performance in the third-generation Chevy Camaro – especially if it were paired with a modern-day six-speed manual or an electronically controlled automatic transmission.

3rd gens CAN be gorgeous. This one is great, but I don’t care for the scoops that rear engine probably necessitates.
I’ve seen this done to third gen firebird, it was on TV recently ( I think My Classic Car)
Though it can be done, it takes a lot of time and money to pull it all together, but certainly makes for something unique that grabs attention
For me personally, I have a 3rd gen Camaro and love it for what it is with the engine up front. For mid-engine…I’d go C8 Corvette
Nope!
I did this to a third gen firebird, search for Daverri and you’ll find some youtube videos. It’s only a 604 big block though.
They are trying to copycat the corvette. With the mid engine idea. It a Vette want-a-be. A big no.
The C4 that came out with the third-gen wasn’t even mid-engine, You drinkin’ stupid juice?
