800-Horsepower Widebody 1969 Chevy Camaro Lays It On Thick: Video

Clean and mean is the theme for this 1969 Chevy Camaro build, with 800 ponies ready to go under a custom widebody done in white and black.

This Chevy Camaro was built by Born Vintage out of Bakersfield, California, providing a rolling showcase of the shop’s services and talents. The car started life as a numbers-matching original that needed some love to get back on the road, but the owner decided to go full custom.

Now, this Chevy Camaro presents a stark white and black exterior theme, with hand-shaped bumpers, a custom rear decklid, and a custom rear wing lip that is integrated with the rear quarter panels. Honeycomb grilles are used throughout, while up front, the flared fenders are continued into the doors. Also check the custom front splitter, finished in black to complement the black aluminum grille. Notably, the sideview mirrors are off a Ducati motorcycle, a cool little touch that helps this build standout.

The rolling spec includes Forgeline wheels finished in matte bronze with a black lip, sized at 18 inches in front and 19 inches in the rear, with 275 front tires and 345 rear tires.

“The goal of it was to keep the ’69 Camaro [style], try not to stray too far away from what is a ’69 but just give it all the touches that we wanted to do to make it that really aggressive pro-touring style, just badass car,” says the builder.

Inside, we find a fully custom interior with brown and black upholstery, custom fabricated dash, Dakota Digital gauges and a Vintage Air HVAC system.

Providing the grunt is a Magnuson supercharger strapped on top of a 441 cubic-inch LS7 V8 by ERL Performance, which mates to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and breathes through a custom exhaust and headers. The intake also feeds on fresh air right in front of the driver’s side front wheel.

Making it all handle is coilover suspension and Detroit Speed components, including a DSE subframe and quadralink in back with a trick cantilever setup that mounts the shocks in the trunk. Stopping it are Wilwood brakes with 14-inch discs and 6-piston calipers.

No doubt, this Chevy Camaro likes to lay it on thick. Check it out in the full feature video below:
