The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will eventually offer available heated outboard rear seats, GM Authority can confirm.
GM’s heated outboard rear seat feature enables heated seating surfaces on the two outboard, second-row passenger seats. This feature will not be offered on the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition, but will instead be added to the vehicle’s order books once additional trim levels are introduced.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition, which is the only model GM has accepted orders for at this point, is based on the entry-level Luxury trim. It’s likely the Lyriq will follow GM’s current Y-trim level strategy, which has Luxury as the base trim and splits into the more upscale, albeit different, Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. While not yet confirmed, it’s also possible GM will offer its upscale Premium Luxury Platinum and Sport Platinum trim levels on the Cadillac Lyriq eventually, as well.
Reservations for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition opened last September following the debut of the production-ready Lyriq that April. GM charged customers a $100 refundable deposit fee to reserve their spot in line, with these reservations filling up in just 10 minutes. Pricing for the Debut Edition starts at $59,990.
Power in the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition comes from a single, rear-mounted Ultium Drive permanent magnet electric motor producing 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. A 100 kWh GM Ultium lithium-ion battery pack provides an estimated 300 miles of range per charge. This 340-horsepower version of the Cadillac Lyriq will wear a 450E badge, as per Cadillac’s new torque-based naming convention it first introduced back in 2019. The mid-size battery-electric CUV rides on the GM BEV3 platform.
Production of the Cadillac Lyriq began at the GM Spring Hill Assembly plant in Tennessee late last month. Customer deliveries will commence in the near future.

Well isn’t that special. My aunt/uncle had a 2004 Cadillac DeVille with heated/ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. If not mistaken, you could get this before 2004 as well.
The progress we’ve made in 20 years.
My Chevy Bolt has heated rear seats
The competition is pretty high. GM promised rear heating as standard feature, in addition to HUD. If they start removing these features lot of the people who were considering to really buy would cancel their orders compared to other similar offerings.
*pending chip supply in 2023 with limited quantities in stock.
“GM’s heated outboard rear seat feature enables heated seating surfaces on the two outboard, second-row passenger seats.”
………Yep. That’s what it means, alright.
Gee, my first car ,back in 1967,had heated rear seats . I just parked it in the sun.
It’s funny that you mention 1967, because 67 Eldorado was one of the first cars to offer heated front seats as a option.
GM bean counters – embarrassing Cadillac into oblivion by chasing sales volume instead of respectability.
My 2017 Chevy Bolt Premier, an entry level EV, has heated rear seats as standard equipment. I’d be surprised if those don’t turn out to be standard on the Lyriq as well. While an ICE vehicle can be heated for free with otherwise wasted heat from the engine, heating the cabin of an EV consumes a lot of stored energy from the battery, while heating the seats and steering wheel can do the job with much less energy consumption.
