2022 Chevy Tahoe, Suburban Get Heated And Ventilated Front Seats Back

The 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban usher in a few small changes and updates following the introduction of new generations for the 2021 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned that both vehicles are no longer under constraint for the heated and ventilated front seats features.

According to GM Authority sources, the constraints placed on the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban with regard to the heated and ventilated features were lifted as of April 18th production. As a result, all units of the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban that would normally be equipped with heated and ventilated front seats will once again include those features.

The heated front seats feature is tagged with RPO code KA1, while the ventilated front seats feature is tagged with RPO code KQV. Previously, both features were under production constraint for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban between March 14th and April 17th.

As covered previously, units affected by the production constraint will include a vehicle window sticker that indicates which features are missing. Affected units will also include a credit, where applicable. Customers who purchased a vehicle affected by the heated and ventilated seats constraint will be eligible for a dealer retrofit later this year.

Heated seats are normally equipped as standard on LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country trim levels, but are not offered for LS. Meanwhile, ventilated seats are normally equipped as standard on Premier and High Country trim levels. To note, High Country trims were unaffected by the heated and ventilated seat production constraints.

Several other GM vehicles have been placed under constraint for heated and ventilated seats as a result of the global microchip shortage, with all four of GM’s U.S. brands affected. With regard to the Chevy brand specifically, the Chevy Blazer, Chevy Colorado, Chevy Equinox, Chevy Silverado, Chevy Trailblazer, and Chevy Traverse have also been affected by constraints for the ventilated seats and heated seats features.

With regard to specs for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban, both vehicles are available with three engine options, including the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax. Both vehicles ride on the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

  1. GMAuthority writers always forget that the 2022 Malibu was also affected by the unavailability of heated and ventilated seats. I have not seen when these will be made available again.

  3. Wondering how much longer the delay will be before the chip shortage is caught up enough to get some new vehicles to the dealers. I ordered a new GMC Yukon at Christmas and still haven’t heard anything. Yukon will be powered with the Duramax. Any ideas will help.

    1. Does your dealership have a Suburban allocation? If not, try other dealers.
