2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Gets New Glacier Blue Metallic Color: First Look

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 adds three new exterior colors to its palette: Dark Ash Metallic, Sand Dune Metallic, and Glacier Blue Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Glacier Blue hue.

Assigned RPO code GLT and touch-up paint code WA-327E, Glacier Blue Metallic is one of 10 exterior colors offered on the full-size light duty pickup truck, which include:

  • Black
  • Cherry Red Tintcoat
  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
  • Northsky Blue Metallic
  • Red Hot
  • Silver Ice Metallic
  • Summit White
  • Dark Ash Metallic (new for 2022)
  • Glacier Blue Metallic (new for 2022)
  • Sand Dune Metallic (new for 2022)

The Glacier Blue Metallic color is an extra-cost item that adds an additional $395 to the vehicle’s price. This color is available on all trim levels except High Country, and can be combined with all four interior colorways:

  • Jet Black
  • Jet Black/Graystone
  • Jet Black/Nightshift Blue
  • Gideon/Very Dark Atmosphere

The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup debuted on September 9th, introducing a long list of highly-anticipated changes and updates over the preceding 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 Limited models. Perhaps the biggest change to the refreshed model is a new interior on LT and higher trim levels, meaning LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, High Country, and the all-new 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2.

On the outside, the refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 features a revamped front fascia, including new headlights with animated walk-up and walk-away features along with swiping turn signals on certain trims.

In many trim levels, the refreshed 2022 Silverado features the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine as standard. The boosted four produces 24 percent more torque for a total of 430 pound-feet in the refreshed models. The truck will also continue offering the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 and 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engines, as well as the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbo-diesel Duramax. Under the skin is the same GM T1 platform as prior to the refresh.

U.S. pricing for the 2022 Chevy Silverado starts at $35,495 including the destination freight charge for the entry-level Work Truck trim level.

As of 2019, Chevy Silverado 1500 models have been assembled at the GM Silao plant in Mexico and the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, USA. Additionally, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada will soon join these two facilities in producing the Silverado 1500 models. This will make Oshawa the only GM plant to exclusively produce Silverado models, as opposed to both Silverado and Sierra models, and also the only plant to assemble both light and heavy duty trucks.

Just put my order in for my ZR2 after doing the build I was told a few of my options would not be available and would have to
be added at the dealership. The 5” black steps and hard tonneau option was removed along with my sport bar and THULE roof rack was also removed. Window rain guards, weather mats also🥴 1 more disappointment was the through the bumper BORLA exhaust exit is not available as was optional in the Build. Hopefully it just gets here before the 23’s come out. I can add most all that accessories myself I guess. Oh and I did choose the glacial blue. As it is close in color to my 13 Avy. LTZ

None of those options are added during the build. They’re all dealer add ons.

My ZR2 order has been stuck in preliminary status (event code 1100) since I placed the order in February. The dealer says they were told there is a constraint on multi function tailgates.

My 2010 Chevy Equinox LTZ V6 has a brown, black and beige interior! My wife’s 2019 Buick Enclave Essence has beige seats, black dash, and black and tan door trim. I can’t see why these car companies and I mean all car companies not just GM can’t bring different colors back again… Everything I see now is black or grey it’s like where back in the 1990s again.
