The 2022 Chevy Equinox is the fifth model year for the current third-gen crossover, introducing a full model refresh. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that the 2022 Chevy Equinox is no longer available to order with one specific paint option.
According to GM Authority sources, the 2022 Chevy Equinox can no longer be ordered in Cherry Red Tintcoat paint, tagged with paint code GSK. Cherry Red Tintcoat will be unavailable for the remainder of the 2022 model year.
Notably, Cherry Red Tintcoat was one of the new paint options added for the 2022 model year, replacing Cajun Red Tintcoat offered previously. The other three paint options added for the 2022 model year include Seaglass Blue Metallic, Blue Glow Metallic, and Iron Gray Metallic.
Previously, Cherry Red Tintcoat was offered on all 2022 Chevy Equinox trim levels with the exception of the LS, and could be had in conjunction with the Medium Ash Gray interior colorway and Jet Black interior colorway, but not the Jet Black with Maple Sugar interior colorway. Pricing for the Cherry Red Tintcoat paint was set at $495.
The full 2022 Chevy Equinox paint options list, including the now-unavailable Cherry Red Tintcoat, is as follows:
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
- Silver Ice Metallic
- Summit White
- Mosaic Black Metallic
- Blue Glow Metallic
- Seaglass Blue Metallic
- Iron Gray Metallic
- Cherry Red Tintcoat
Making its debut at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Equinox introduces a wealth of changes for the nameplate, with updates to the exterior styling, interior, and powertrain. As for the greasy bits, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Equinox is available with a single engine option, specifically the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, rated at 170 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 203 pound-feet of torque between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. Under the body panels, the Equinox rides on the GM D2 platform, with production for the North American market taking place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant and the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico, as well as the GM CAMI plant in Canada.

GM is always talking about the new electric this or the next plug-in that – it would be nice if GM paid half as much attention to their current offerings and customers.
They will when sales collapse with the looming recession.
Come on 10% interest rates. The 30 year mortgage is already up to 5% and counting.
Now you want more socialism to save you from failed US capitalism.
Maybe save the color additions and deletions for one post a week covering all models.
Equinox is a Piece of Crap
My 2019 Premier is a great vehicle.
Obviously you don’t own one-
My 2020 LT is wonderful. Pretty good on gas too.
Happy with my Cherry RedNox
Naturally they cut the 2 best colors offered and keep the rental car favorites which is fitting for this rental special.
Week after week I wait for my Chevy dealer to get an allocation for a Premier Equinox. This is becoming a joke. All day long I see GM EV commercials of vehicles that are not available. GM is becoming a joke. I guess when China is running the show, what would a person expect!
Ford and Dodge dealers in my area have some inventory. GM dealers are still into truck week that has run weekly for over a year. If things don’t change, I will leave GM and a great Chevy dealer and buy elsewhere.
That was my favorite color!
GM needs new leadership that will listen to customers, not the government!
Did this article give a reason why the color was being stopped? I already left GM for Ford because GM had nothing available except for trucks the same prices as houses and tons, and I mean TONS of Blazers. What a disappointment GM has become. I owned them for many, many years, but the only thing they know how to do now is spend all their money on advertising vehicles they never actually have for sale. Just sad.
First of all, GM isn’t the only manufacturer advertising vehicles they do not have for sale. ALL manufacturers are having inventory challenges and still trying to generate traffic to the dealerships. Inventory is trickling in day by day, so people taking delivery while the programs are in market are still getting the benefit of the program.
Second, the reason for the unavailability of the color doesn’t matter. Supplier issues still abound, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that colors, options, certain trim pieces, etc. are being made unavailable.
All the manufacturers are just trying to get product out to customers at this point. Doesn’t make a difference which manufacturer it is. My current Equinox is over 7 years old now and as much as I would like a new vehicle (GM or otherwise), now is not the best time.
Too bad they couldn’t have discontinued one of the grey or silvers. Tired of seeing so many shades of those available on most vehicles.
Just got a call from Phillips Chevrolet here in Illinois where I ordered a Black Equinox in FEBRUARY and told that black is no longer being built, only white, grey and blue.
That makes no sense.
