2,000-Horsepower Chevy S10 Dominates The Drag Strip: Video

It’s pretty obvious when a race car is just on the money. You see it in the way the vehicle launches, in the way it tracks through a run, and, critically, in the way it crosses the finish line with a big gap ahead of the competition. Now, we’re looking at exactly that with the Chevy S10 drag racer featured in the following video.
Coming to us from the folks at 1320 Video, this particular Chevy S10 belongs to Jason Cantu, who recently brought his ride to Yello Belly Drag Strip in Dallas County, Texas for some heads-up drag racing and a shot at a cash prize.
Needless to say, Cantu’s Chevy S10 pickup is an absolutely savage machine, featuring a 500-cubic-inch Big Block Chevy V8 stuffed with boost by twin 88 mm turbochargers mounted behind the cabin and dumping exhaust out the top of the bed. The turbos are tuned to produce 18 pounds of boost, mixing with a steady diet of alcohol to throw down over 2,000 horsepower.
According to the owner, the decision to go with Chevy Big Block over an LS came down to reliability. “It’s so maintenance-free,” Cantu says. “We can go a year on this motor before we freshen it back up.”
All told, this Chevy S10 absolutely demolishes the competition. While most of the other racers spin their tires or get out of the groove, this Chevy S10 digs and scoots, often crossing the finish line well ahead of the car in the other lane. Notably, the Chevy S10 runs in multiple classes at the event, handily laying down some very impressive runs both at night and during the day.
The video is long, clocking in at a little over 20 minutes and leading the viewer through the event as Cantu and his Chevy S10 blast through a series of rivals, picking them off one by one on the way to the winner’s circle.
