Refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Configurator Live

The online configurator tool for the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 full-size pickup has officially gone live on GMC.com.

The online configurator tool for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 allows users to choose their preferred Sierra body style and bed length, along with their desired powertrain, trim level and options and features. The tool also provides a pricing summary of the user’s created vehicle, giving customers an idea of how much they might pay for their preferred pickup at the dealership.

The refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 introduces revised exterior styling to the nameplate, along with an overhauled cabin and new available technologies. Powertrain options include the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine (now with 430 pound-feet of torque), the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 and 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engines and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax.

GM introduced the new range-topping Denali Ultimate trim level on the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra, which features unique Vader Chrome exterior trim, exclusive 22-inch wheels, standard power assist steps and other high-end equipment intended to set it apart from the standard Denali trim. This trim level is only offered with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The new Sierra AT4X off-road trim level was also introduced for 2022, giving customers a more capable Sierra trim.

The refreshed 2022 Sierra 1500 rides on the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Silao plant in Mexico and the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana. Pricing starts at $34,995 including destination and freight for the WT trim level in the new-for-2022 Single Cab, Standard Bed body style configuration.

Seems like prices increased a lot from the Limited.

Well it’s a better looking truck with an interior far ahead of it, I’d expect no less

Sorry I was not clear, it seems like prices increased a lot from what the start MSRP of each trim level was shown on their website last week. See below from GM Authority article from 10/30/21 which was right around what the GMC site was showing, including destination charge.

Starting prices (including destination charge) for the refreshed 2022 Sierra are:

$32,495 for Sierra Pro (base model, formerly called “Sierra”)
        $43,895 for SLE
        $45,495 for Elevation
        $50,895 for SLT
        $60,995 for AT4
        $61,295 for Denali
        $74,995 for AT4X
        $80,395 for Denali Ultimate

As someone with a deposit for a refresh, I’m a bit upset the initial base prices weren’t even close to being accurate. Expecting a fully loaded Elevation to be 56-57k is now 64k. Loaded out AT4 is 68k. How does this make any sense anymore lol.

Why spend 75k for an at4x with a 6.2 when for another 3 ya can get a ram trx supercharged.

          Different markets.
The AT4X is fully loaded luxury with moderate off-road capability.
The TRX isn’t really luxury but built for high speed off-road.
I would be impressed if someone found a TRX under $90k. Mark up is insane.
Also, styling is part of people’s decisions. Some might not want a wide body truck that’s hard to park in some cities.

I just ordered my AT4 and paid MSRP. Could have got the AT4X at MSRP as well but wanted the diesel.

when you placed your order, did your dealer give you a confirmation number/order number/receipt/anything?

Or did you tell them what you wanted and that was basically the end of it? This is what my dealer did and I am a little concerned (didnt give them any money, just my build sheet)

            1. KMR56

I put down a $1,000 refundable deposit, but no actual order number yet.
I’m not entirely sure of the whole process, but I believe you place the order with the dealer, then they place it with GM. Once the order is accepted by GM, then you get the order number. I could be wrong in my understanding.
Working with a family friend who is a fleet manager, and we are buying 4 AT4 trucks.
I was told it’s about 3-5 months (most likely 4 months) before we will take delivery and he will let me know once the actual order number is set with GM.
Dealers are only getting so many allocated due to the shortages. But I was told my price is MSRP, less any discounts available (if any) at the time of delivery.

So did options. They did away with a lot and added a lot. Removal of the AFM V8 and having to pay Tula tech for the DSF V8 and the removal of the 8 speed probably adds a couple hundred, then theirs the new interior, and then there’s the the additional options on top of that. It all adds up. Regardless…… i wouldn’t buy one without incentives given these things have a 20-30k profit margins built in

I noticed that the Denali Ultimate and AT4X have way less options than the rest of the trim…😕nice trucks though but they’re still half tons

Anyone else notice that the interior in the SLT and lower is the same as the refreshed Silverado interior? It is not the same as the AT4 and above, which is the interior that GMC has been promoting….

Good observation Chris. IMO it’s not necessarily a bad thing since both updated interiors are attractive. Many have stated, and justifiably so that the pre-refresh Denali interior is too similar to the lower trim levels. This move should help alleviate some of those concerns.

There’s a lot of things that are not the same as what has been promoted. I was hoping to purchase a Double Cab Elevation and am immediately notice if I select the base turbo engine, as soon as I add a package it asks me to upgrade to the V8 or I6. Also shows the new infotainment system but does not have bucket seats, which I thought I read that on all trims with the new screen that bench seating would not be an option.

I am hoping its in error due to the double cab not going into production until later – maybe that haven’t taken the time to work out the bugs.

      For example

I dont understand why they would do a genius thing like move the brake controller to the center console where it’s much easier to access then only put it on the Denali.

I was willing to pay the extra for a GMC JUST for that brake controller replacement. These Sierra prices are crazy, starting at 58k to get bucket seats and a diesel?

That dash and brake controller layout is also found on the AT4 and AT4X. I have seen guys make fun of that location and others praise it. Personally I think it looks pretty convenient.

Which starts at 62k and has a lower GVWR. The interior is a lot better though. I’m debating on canceling our trip and waiting for the 2500 refresh

I have a wireless brake controller now and I keep it in the center console. You want to be able to access it as fast as possible in a sway condition so the less distance the better imho.

I went through the current inventory page and the first trucks will show up on a few lots march 9th, but thats just a handful of trucks. I bet the first week of april you might be able to find one near by to look at.

I talk to my dealer regularly. He said they started getting inventory order allocations for SLTs a couple weeks back, meaning not sold orders. I asked again today and he said that again, they did not get any allocations for sold order AT4X or Denali Ultimate. Pretty frustrating.

I have a denali ultimate order at code 3000, tpw of 4-11. My dealer said hes only gotton one allocation for the ultimate so far. One week only 44 ultimates were allocated for the whole country. Maybe once indian gets going that number will start to jump higher.

What happened to the tow mirror option?

I do not understand it either, that is one option I we looking at for an AT4 standard bed w/ toe mirrors. Most of the Chevrolet trucks have the option for the mirrors, all be it you loose simple upgrade options when you select the mirrors (bed liner, sensors, etc – easy money). Guess I will keep waiting or talk to a dealer about how to upgrade after the fact.

.I spoke to dealer about installing those mirrors after. Was told that it would not have all the functions, heated, cameras, etc. Wish it was different, but not a deal breaker.

I ordered a 21 Denali in January 21, and took delivery on April 29th. I just priced out an identical refreshed 22 on the configurator, and it stickers for $5000 more than my 21 did. And that $5000 more is before the GM incentives the 21 had. From a quick look, the only equipment that’s either new or now standard, is Rainsense Wipers, HD Surround Vision, and Buckle to Drive. That’s not much for $5000 extra. Oh, and that $5000 extra is after about $200 in credits for equipment my 21 has, that’s not currently available on 22’s (heated wheel, park assist, etc).

Interestingly, it looks like Super Cruise is either not currently available on the Denali, or only available on the Denali Ultimate.

The new interior’s nice, but so’s having that extra $5000 in my pocket, instead of GM’s.

Looking at the employee discount website and the standard Denali trim is not eligible for a discount! What the heck GM?!?! That discount made the difference for me…

I saw this too! None of the trims are eligible for employee discount. I may have to end up getting a limited or 2021 with the refreshed 2022s jacked up prices and no employee discount

Same issue for me. Ridiculous that the truck is not eligible for employee discount. Placed a order last year, probably gonna skip it.

This is an incredibly huge disappointment. I was planing on getting a code from a family member who works for GM. Really hope they allow discounts by the time these trucks start arriving on lots. It makes a heck of a difference in the price (plus saves having to negotiate with dealerships who have zero incentive to negotiate on anything)

GM (like most automakers) almost never allow discount programs on new models, especially highly popular ones. It could be a few months before employee or supplier discounts are available. And that is if you can find a dealer willing to sell it to you one using one of those programs.

When I bought my 21 Denali, I was able to get the supplier discount. Because of the difficulty in getting new inventory, on May 1st, two days after I picked up my truck, my dealer stopped accepting any discounts, including GM employee and supplier. Since then they’ve sold everything at sticker, only accepting whatever monthly factory incentives are offered. At least they’re still selling at sticker (even on Corvettes). Most other dealers around me are marking pick ups up anywhere from $1200 – $6500 over sticker.

Ive been lucky enough to find a dealership extremely close to my home that not only will sell at MSRP, but will also honor employee pricing (if you have the code). Extremely rare in this market, thats for sure.

My only hope is that since these things are going to take a few months to build (havent officially submitted my order yet), maybe that will be enough time to allow codes to be used again. Who knows.

GM: here you go we updated the interior! It has much improved interior materials with less plastic!

People on GM authority: Oh My gosh! Why did the price go up!? This is so dumb!

It’s a combination of a significant increase plus the terrible market that are pissing people off. They already marked up the MSRP and they marked it up again unless the configurator is wrong. The markup on trucks is already insane to offset fleet purchases so this is like being hit 3 times with a price increase.

We had an MSRP increase, then another MSRP increase in the configurator, no manufacturer rebates and dealers not negotiating.

If you don’t absolutely need a vehicle right now you shouldn’t be buying anything.

I wanted an AT4X, but you can’t get it with a standard bed. So I configured an AT4 with just a 6.2 engine, Summit white paint, and the AT4 Premium package, now I’m up over $68k! WTF? I was using the 2021 pricing on the website and it was around $61k, now it’s $65. I think I’m going to wait a year and see how the market looks with incentives and I also want my heated steering wheel as well as front and rear parking sensors installed from the factory. I was planning on not spending more than $60k out the door. I guess that not going to be happening for awhile.

    1. KMR56

I think those days of a sub $60k AT4 are long gone. It is too popular of a trim and Mary already said they will never go back to those inventory levels. Everything is going for MSRP or more. It’s all way over priced but that’s the world we live in.

My biggest gripe is that you cannot get the 3.0 Duramax with the max trailering package and the two speed transfer case. Z71/X31 is required for low range and you can’t have either of those packages with max trailering. That kills this or the Silverado as an option for me!

Those of us that liked Dark Sky Metallic really really loved it. It was one of my all time favorite paint colors.

To get what I need in a 7300lb GVWR vehicle it’s 63k and I lose out on the center console brake controller or rain sensing wipers. If i cut a few nice to haves Im still at 62k

I’m not seeing the suspension upgrade (2” lift) on the SLT configurator’s accessories ‘step’. The refreshed Silverado configurator has it on there. Is GMC no longer offering this option? I was pretty set on getting a factory warranty suspension upgrade on my SLT. Also very disappointed to see they went ahead with the directional spoke wheels for the 20” option. Those things are awful.
