Refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Now Arriving At Dealerships

The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 has begun arriving at dealerships in the United States after the official release of the full-size pickup was delayed earlier this year.

As GM Authority reported previously, production of the refreshed 2022 Silverado began at the GM Silao Assembly facility in Mexico on February 21st, which was slightly later than the initially planned production start date of February 7th. Similarly, production of the pickups will begin at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly facility in Indiana on March 14th, just over a week later than the initial start date of March 6th.

With vehicles now in production at the GM Silao Assembly plant, certain variations of the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 have begun arriving at General Motors dealerships in the U.S., as evidenced by photos shared on social media and across the web. Seeing as production is still limited, it’s likely the pickup will still be hard to come by until production ramps up at the Fort Wayne plant next week. GM will also soon begin building the truck at its Oshawa Assembly plant in southern Ontario, Canada, which will give it more production capacity as it works to fulfill overwhelming demand for its full-size trucks.

The online configurator tool for the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 also went live this month, allowing prospective customers to create their ideal Silverado 1500 specification and view a complete pricing breakdown. The updated light-duty Silverado introduces revised exterior styling, an overhauled cabin with new technologies, including new standard and available display screens, and adds the highly anticipated off-road-focused ZR2 model variant.

In many trim levels, the refreshed 2022 Silverado will come standard with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which now produces 24 percent more torque for a total of 430 pound-feet. The truck will also offer the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 and 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engines, as well as the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbo-diesel Duramax. Under the skin is the same GM T1 platform as the pre-refresh models.

U.S. pricing for the 2022 Chevy Silverado starts at $33,195 including the destination freight charge for the entry-level Work Truck trim level.

  1. I ordered a custom trail boss limited in December was told it was accepted 1st week of February and now with both plants starting the refreshed model will they still build the limited I’m so aggravated waiting around not knowing

    1. GM doesn’t play that game like Fiat has been doing for the last several years… GM ONLY uses the “Limited” model to get rid of old inventory… once they start manufacturing the new style, which they have, they stop the old model almost immediately.

    2. I ordered dec 28th and just got called that I can’t get it I had to go for the LT refreshed one and is already has a production week of may 16 th

  2. When the Gladiator debuted most agreed it should have $5k knocked off most.trims, once the first wave of sales went through they started incentivizing them and gave it a more realistic price. Same will happen with this new Silverado. It should be selling for $10k cheaper in most trims and not at 3.99% financing.

  3. Cool, can’t wait to see one… not that I’ll buy one, no wimpy half ton for me!

    1. too bad the 3/4 tons still have that awful interior, a 2500 Z71 sport edition is only a few thousand more than a 1500 LT/RST and a lot more capable.

  4. GM will most definitely have to heavily discount thru cash incentives and financing. Maybe not right away, but with stratospheric prices and a nearing recession, they’ll have no choice.

  5. How is the build quality between Silao and Fort Wayne?

    1. I bought a 2021 Silverado LTZ in November 2021 with 6800 miles certified built in Silao, and so far I’m impressed. Got the truck for $10.000 of MSRP when other dealers were jacking up over MSRP. They are out there. Loaded with all the chips and Technology pk.

  6. Another refresh. This time with F-150 tail lights. Throughout the 90s and early 2000s GM had it, they have clearly lost it. They’re constant refreshment constant chasing after the F-150 but ram sneaking up from behind them and about to knock them out. Bad management is to blame. Their build quality is the absolute worst in the Auto industry bar none. This is a company who should sell out or just quit there quickly becoming irrelevant anyway.

    1. lol nothing you said is true. “constant refresh”?? GM doesn’t refresh their trucks any more often than Ford or Fiat.. Settle down Chad. Go get some facts and come back here and apologize for being dumb.

    2. Constant refresh is a stretch, they HAD to refresh again because RAM made them look like idiots. GM has been known for great exteriors and awful interiors for almost 20 years now. The 2019 refresh should have never happened as they clearly half assed it and made the interior look worse. No one was expecting RAM to come out with their amazing interior refresh in 2019 and it caught Ford/GM flat footed since they refuse to improve unless they’re forced to.

Personally GM still makes the best looking exterior on their trucks even with the weird grill notches. They finally release a nice interior then mess it up by skyrocketing the price at a time that their costs are insanely low since they’ve had to do minimal advertising and no rebates in over a year.

      1. Plus they took away all of the grey exterior colors and bring in the most putrid rainbow of colors! SAD, SAD, SAD!

  7. I was surprised to see an LTZ 2 days ago at a dealer. The interior is nice, but I’m not a fan of the electronic gear selector in the console. Also, the mandatory seat belt buckle to shift into gear is ridiculous.

    1. You can turn off

    2. Oh, you have to buckle up to get going? that’s a deal breaker for me.

      Reply
      1. I always buckle up when driving, that’s not the point. For people that actually work out of their trucks for a living & are constantly moving around the job site it’s an annoyance.

        Reply
        1. there are things out there you can buy to stick in the seatbelt receiver to make truck think you are buckled up, It is not rocket science to override it. That is, if the software override isn’t good enough for you.

          Reply
          1. You can turn it off in the center screen. No override is necessary.

            Reply
          2. It can be shut down in the settings or even make time before you can drive shorter.

  12. Saw a couple of LT’s both with 2.7 and 5.3. Nice enough looking trucks but what in the heck happened to the mileage ratings? The 2.7 was only rated for 17/20 which is down from 19/22 for the 2021’s and the 5.3 was only rated 15/19 with the 10 speed and Dynamic fuel management system which is down from 2021’s 16/22 rating. Both appeared to still have stop/start as it wasn’t deleted. Why the huge loss in MPG? Even the Hemi Ram without eTorque was rated for 21 highway at the Dodge store next door which is higher than GM’s 4 cylinder!!!!!

  13. i already have the RST, the only thing i dont like was the gear selector, if you want to put in park you have to press a button, but if you go up like you usually do in any other car it goes into reverse lol. everything else i love it

And now the plants are building the refreshed model which mine is not
