The 2022 Cadillac Escalade has all the right stuff for elegant, high-class motoring, with a commanding road presence for the exterior and sumptuous luxury for the interior. However, this SUV can also tow stuff, and now, we’re taking a closer look at the 2022 Cadillac Escalade towing capacities.
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade is available with two powertrain options, including the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm, as well as the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbo-diesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. Both engines connect to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission and a 3.23 final drive ratio. Both engines are also available with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
What’s more, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade is available with the optional Heavy-Duty Trailering Package (RPO code ZM1), which includes the following:
- Auxiliary trailer camera
- Trailer tire pressure monitoring system
- Trailering assist guidelines
- Two-speed transfer case (four-wheel drive models only)
- Extra capacity cooling system

As we can see, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade can tow upwards of 8,200 pounds when equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rear-wheel drive, and the optional Heavy-Duty Trailering Package. At the other end of the scale, we have models equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine and four-wheel drive, rated at a maximum of 7,500 pounds.
Also of note is the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV, which is offered as the extended wheelbase model variant. The 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV measures in with a wheelbase of 134.1 inches and an overall length of 227 inches, as compared to the standard Cadillac Escalade, which has a wheelbase of 120.9 inches and an overall length of 211.9 inches.
Maximum towing in the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV is rated 8,000 pounds when equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rear-wheel drive, and the optional Heavy-Duty Trailering Package. The lowest tow rating for the ESV is 7,300 pounds for models equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine and four-wheel drive.

This has been posted last week. Here is a dose of reality for the author. Go to your local dealer, and order any Escalade, Yukon, Suburban or Tahoe with the optional towing pkg, and see what they tell you.

IT IS NOT AVAILABLE. Anyone can win the lottery, but go ahead and do it.
No 3.43 axle option?
Heavy duty trailering pkg. (Especially with the electronic brake controller). Impossible to order. My order for a 21 was cancelled due to this, 22 the same.
I’ve yet to see one of these towing anything except its owner’s desperation to pump up their own ego
