Here Are The 2022 Buick Crossover Towing Capacities

If you own a crossover, there’s a good chance you enjoy using your vehicle for a variety of different purposes. After all, that is one of the underlying reasons customers gravitate towards the crossover body style in the first place. One of those purposes may be towing, so with that in mind, GM Authority is now taking a closer look at the towing capacities of the 2022 Buick crossover lineup.

The models covered here include the Buick Enclave, the Buick Encore, the Buick Encore GX, and the Buick Envision.

As it stands, the 2022 Buick crossover with the highest overall towing capacity rating is the Buick Enclave, rated at 5,000 pounds. As for the powertrain, the Buick Enclave is motivated by the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, which is rated at 310 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 266 pound-feet of torque at 2,800 rpm. Output is routed through the GM 9-speed automatic transmission and 3.49 axle, with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive available.

The 2022 Buick crossover with the lowest overall towing rating is the Buick Encore GX, which is rated at 1,000 pounds. Under the hood, the tow-rated 2022 Buick Encore GX is motivated by the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine, which is rated at 155 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 174 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm, connecting to front-wheel drive via the GM CVT, or all-wheel drive via the GM 9-speed automatic transmission.

Notably, the Buick Encore GX also requires the optional Trailering Package (RPO code PDE) for the tow rating. The Trailering Package includes a tow hitch, trailering harness, and trailering hitch bezel.

It should also be noted that several 2022 Buick crossover models are not recommended for any towing activities whatsoever. In fact, these particular models even include a warning in the owner’s manuals that explicitly states “Never tow a trailer with your vehicle. It was not designed or intended to tow a trailer.”

The 2022 Buick crossovers models not recommended for any towing whatsoever include the Buick Encore, Buick Encore GX models with the 1.2L I3 LIH engine (as well as models without the optional Trailering Package), and Buick Envision models without the optional trailer hitch (RPO code SDE).

  1. Sad numbers for some of them, but still better than an electric.

  2. Walt theses are CUVs basically they are the car based modern version of the classic station wagon. We my wife and I each own one a 2019 Buick Enclave and and 2010 Chevy Equinox LTZ V6 and we both love them never had a major problem going on vacation or everyday use. I have never towed anything with either car but ask yourself when’s the last time you saw an crossover towing anything!? If I need to toe I will rent a U-Haul or buy an old truck.
