GM’s All-New Wuling Jia Chen Interior Design Unveiled

Last week, SAIC-GM-Wuling officially unveiled the all-new Wuling Jia Chen MPV as the latest addition to the brand’s new passenger vehicle family. Now, General Motors’ second joint venture in China has just revealed the interior design of the Jia Chen that will become Wuling‘s next entry-level multipurpose vehicle.

The interior of the all-new Wuling Jia Chen adopts the latest design language developed for Wuling’s most advanced models, which bear the Global Silver logo and were specifically developed to expand both the Chinese market positioning and the brand’s international reach. As such, the Jia Chen’s cabin is comprised of a minimalist dashboard with a horizontal layout and multiple tasteful functional elements.

The first images of the all-new Wuling Jia Chen’s interior present a cabin with a contrasting three-color scheme that gives it a sober, yet modern appearance. This includes the floor and most of the plastic elements painted in black, light brown leatherette upholstery and padded moldings, as well as the headliner and pillars finished with a light gray textile material.

As with the exterior, the interior design of the all-new Wuling Jia Chen is clearly inspired by that of the Wuling Asta / Xing Chen crossover with which it shares many components. In fact, the entire top-middle of the dash is exactly the same, with the brown faux-leather appliqué and aluminum trim as the only differences. This includes the 10.25-inch screen, instrumentation, steering wheel, and horizontal air vents.

The new Wuling Jia Chen MPV also features a modular and highly flexible seating configuration with a 2+2+N layout that offers a capacity to carry up to seven people. All versions will have captain’s chairs as standard in the second row, while the third row boasts a three-seat bench that can be folded down or removed completely to maximize cargo space.

The all-new Wuling Jia Chen will be officially launched in China during the second quarter of the year, with sales starting immediately then, as usual in that country. The compact MPV is the third state-of-the-art vehicle in Wuling’s new family of models, created with higher quality standards to enhance the brand’s positioning and promote its attractive value formula in international markets.

  1. Not sure the inside matters as the outside is just so ugly. But at least the screen isn’t using up half the dash and blocking 1/3rd of the forward view.

    1. Ha! The boxy shape is a little different, but that’s the style over there. The other detail that gets is me the leather on the shifter. Makes it look like a circus tent. Otherwise it’s a gorgeous vehicle.

  2. The one fact that’s missing from all of this that I’d really like to know is the MSRP. Chinese vehicles are extremely affordable.

  3. When and if the Chinese Communist partners of General Motors decide to go to war on Taiwan, whose side will GM pick?
