General Motors has partnered with Disney-owned company A+E Networks to produce a new, feature-length documentary showcasing the design, development and release of the GMC Hummer EV.
The 60-minute documentary, titled ‘REVOLUTION: GMC HUMMER EV’, will air on The History Channel on Sunday, March 27th, at 11 a.m. EST. The film follows a group of hand-selected General Motors engineers and team members as they work to launch the Hummer EV in record time. GM says it gave the film’s producers unfettered access to its design and development facilities, providing viewers with a never-before-seen look at how the automaker engineers its most advanced vehicles in the current day. The film was produced by Detroit-based WTP Pictures, while post-production was handled by Detroit firm Hiatus.
“Join the team in the freezing temperatures of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula as they test the limits of the GMC HUMMER EV on snow and ice. Then, head to the scorching heat and steep red rocks of Moab, Utah, as the team fine-tunes the truck’s off-road capability,” GM says of the new feature-length documentary. “Along the way, viewers will dive deeper into GM’s testing and development facilities – previously unseen by the public – including the storied halls of the GM Design building at the Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, and the company’s rigorous proving grounds in Milford, Michigan, and Yuma, Arizona.”
The documentary will also focus on GM’s efforts to re-tool its former Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant in Michigan to build the Hummer EV. The facility has since been renamed Factory Zero to better reflect the zero-emission vehicles that are produced there.
GM fans that don’t have cable or access to The History Channel can also watch this documentary through History on Hulu or History.com’s own streaming platform. It will also be uploaded to GMC’s official YouTube channel in its entirety on Sunday, April 3rd.
A short, one-minute, 45-second long teaser trailer for the documentary is embedded below. Check it out before the film’s official release on The History Channel later this month.
