GM is showcasing its vision of an all-electric future in a virtual setting at the ongoing Metaverse Fashion Week.
Metaverse Fashion Week began on March 24th and will run through March 27th. The Metaverse is a virtual reality (VR) space that connects people in a digital environment where they can work, shop and interact. Essentially, the event is a virtual fashion show, tech expo and art exhibit, where brands and creators can show off their designs and ideas in a virtual reality space known as Decentraland. Well-known brands like DKNY, Estée Lauder, Forever 21 – and, of course, GM – all have a presence in this three-dimensional realm, highlighting their digital and physical wares for all in attendance.
There are digital runways, art galleries and even virtual storefronts where attendees can browse through styles just like they would in real life. Some brands even offer a “digital + physical” purchase option for its products, meaning customers get a virtual version of the item to use in the Metaverse, as well as a physical, tangible item delivered to them.
With the help of Rinovi, a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace, GM took advantage of this virtual expo by hosting a “booth” in Decentraland. The display shows off a handful of its all-electric vehicles, giving people in the Metaverse an opportunity to become familiar with its EV offerings. The display, which resembles an EV charging station, includes production models such as the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, the Chevrolet Silverado EV and the GMC Hummer EV.
These vehicles are joined by three autonomous electric concepts in the Cadillac Halo Concept Portfolio: the Cadillac InnerSpace, PersonalSpace and SocialSpace. While these Cadillac concepts are not bound for production, they are the perfect vehicles to represent GM’s vision of a future with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion.
Metaverse Fashion Week attendees are invited to explore GM’s portfolio of electric vehicles. Hopefully, this will translate into interest in the EVs in real life (or “IRL” in Metaverse speak).

Whoopie Doo.
This instead of attending and displaying at Auto Show.
Looking at how they presented Lyriq as a brand instead of model might just do better than ruining it with the history of Cadillac.
Lyriq, like Hummer, should be a sub brand. I know like 3 years ago Wall Street analysts were saying Cadillac could fetch 20 billion in a sale. That insanity has passed, GM can’t find a strategy that makes the Monochrome Crest valuable except to a few Silent Generation hold overs focused on buying a last car.
Hey, as lo by as they keep their EV future in the virtual world, I’ll drop a zz632 into a Silverado HD
I’m sure all the illegals and basement dwellers in this Country will line up for these $100K wonders.
Mary Barra ought to leave her office once and a while and see the real America!
So the primary focus should be serving the illegal population?
Live better electrically was the slogan back in 1960. Try saying that in Texas in the winter. Aren’t we supposed to have flying cars by now?
Daniel :
Right you are…. Its embarrassing how lousy the ‘woke’ states (including Texas) have FORCED their electrical systems to become….
Its as though each of us spent an extra $100,000 in our homes to RUIN them… It really is that bad..
Examples will be given if anyone wants them.
Bill Howland:
Please cite some examples. Thanks much.
Texas had a freak cold spell that winter which stressed their electric system. What really concerns me is the demolition of critical huge coal fired electric generating plants in the West, such as the Navajo Generating Plant in Page, Arizona; Carbon Generating Plant in Helper, Utah; and many other thermal coal plants across America to be demolished before their scheduled lifespan.
I know that when Trump is reelected he will immediately executive order the insane early closure and demolition of these critical electricity producers. Thank God for Palo Verde Nuclear in Tonopah, Arizona.
California continues to experience shortage issues in their electric grid. EV owners can link their vehicles to their service receptacles and feed the local grid when the vehicle is not in use, parked in their garages, and receive an energy credit on their account.
Gosh, that new Hummer EV has a three ton battery tray. Amazing. Wonder how long the tires will last. ???
Or how long the insurance companies will slam them for having such a heavy vehicle. Could you imagine being rear ended or t-boned by that thing?
Where is this Meta-verse. I looked in my phone book and did not see a listing. The google maps came up empty.
Maybe its in a foreign country because they have non-fungial tokens. That is good I would hate to catch a fungus from money.
Lofl..Metaverse globally has about 15M people who can access it. 90% are gamers living in mom’s basement. 2021-11M VR headsets-sold a 99% increase over 2020.( from internet search, numbers by google)
Why don’t you showcase a C8 Corvette in the here and now with the IC engine? Or even a future plug in?
No, I think that thing on the left that looks like a palate mover in the factory is much more sexier…
If gm Cadillac continues to make those commercials with those weird women that do nothing but appear next to the EVs, they will turn off more people than the virus…
Those were women?
