GM Files To Trademark Like Nothing Else For Possible Hummer EV Ads: Video

GM has filed to trademark the term Like Nothing Else, GM Authority has uncovered.

Filed on March 8th, 2022 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the application is assigned serial number 93700687. The application was filed under a Goods and Services category reserved for “motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles, trucks and sport utility vehicles.”

Some General Motors enthusiasts may recall when the automaker used the “Like Nothing Else,” tagline in Hummer ads in the early-to-mid 2000s. It’s probably no coincidence the automaker is once again expressing interest in this tagline as the Hummer brand returns with the new GMC Hummer EV Pickup. We’ve not seen this phrase used in Hummer EV marketing material to date, however, with the automaker introducing the vehicle using the new “Quiet Revolution” phrase instead.

An older Hummer ad that utilizes the ‘Like Nothing Else’ phrase

The Like Nothing Else phrase was used to market the Hummer H2 and H3 throughout the 2000s before GM officially pulled the plug on the Hummer brand in 2010. The term was often used on Hummer-branded merchandise, as well, appearing just under the bold capitalized ‘HUMMER’ lettering in a smaller typeface. It’s possible this term could be used in future ads for the Hummer EV across television, print and web, as well as on apparel and other official GM-licensed accessories. Given the Hummer connection, this phrase will probably only be used to market the Hummer EV Pickup and SUV and will therefore not be used to promote other GMC products.

GM has so far delivered a limited number of GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 models after production of the vehicle began at its Factory Zero plant late last year. It will ramp up production of the pickup throughout the year and will eventually begin production of the closely related GMC Hummer EV SUV at Factory Zero in early 2023. Prices for the now-sold-out Hummer EV Pickup First Edition model started at $112,595.

The video embedded here shows an early Hummer brand ad from 2003 that leverages the Like Nothing Else phrase. Check it below.

  2. That’s fine, but only use that trademark if you know you’ve got a good vehicle. “Like nothing else” also works if it’s a lemon.

      1. I’m sure GM took measures to keep water away from the batteries, but I did find the photo humorous as water and batteries don’t mix. ICE, you will just stall out and not go anywhere. Batteries on the other hand, that will be bad.
