So $3,500 in rebates to cancel out the $3,500 +/- in dealer mark ups…. what a deal!!
No $hit, I think the markup is closer to 5 or 7K!
No s**t, I believe the markup is closer to 5 or 7K! Now GMA is censoring my use of words, it took me 4 try’s, they don’t like foul language, but they will bore you to death with a LOT of their articles, time to get new writers!
Only if you want to pay it. Not all dealers are playing that game.
yep, we are still in charge. All you have to do is start to walk out of the dealer after they tell you the markup, and they will be kissing your A$$ for you to come back and tell you no markup for you. People need to learn to play better hardball than the dealers do.
I tried to order a truck March of 2021. Still no truck and not even able to get Chevy to pick up the order. . so all these incentives are a piece of crap. About to order a Dodge and I’m not happy about that
I don’t know what Chevy’s problem is. I ordered a Ram 1500 Jan 14, and received a VIN and delivery week within eight days. To tell the truth the truck was NOT delivered in the promised delivery week. Not at all. It came in a week early, with all accessories fully functional. From order to delivery in about five weeks. I’m not complaining.
For the record: Chevy was my first choice, but, there were no guarantees that what I ordered was what I would get. I’m far enough along in life to not believe GM (or any other manufacturer) will actually follow through on delivering delayed parts to the dealer for fitment to already-sold vehicles. I see people having long waits, all to end up with a coupon good for $200 off on their next GM vehicle, with some restrictions of some sort.
Agreed… GM better get their head out of their A$$ quick, before it is to late.
I understand what GM is thinking by keeping inventories low. They can mark up vehicles and sell fewer of them and make the same amount of money with less overhead. But to what extent??? The problem is that GM will lose market share. Most people want to go to a dealer and pick out a new vehicle and drive it home the same day. I just don’t think this is going to end well for GM.
Yep, I agree %100
I detest the word I am about to use, but will for the sake of this subject: GM thinks they can turn Chevy, GMC, and Buick into “bespoke” (that hurts just to type!) brands when they can’t even do that with their alleged premium make, Cadillac.
I’d not be surprised seeing a lot of long-time GM stores become Hyundai, KIA, Nissan, Toyota, Stellantis, and other such dealers. High markups may be fine, but, ultimately it is paid service and warranty work that keep the doors open, and if you have no cars to sell, there are very few to service.
Meantime, it is likely that Ford, Stellantis, Nissan, Toyota, KIA, Hyundai et al, will bring production back to the levels they can, and move a lot of vehicles.
Susie Soccer-mom wants her van today. Fiona File-clerk wants that small-segment hatch, in a bright color, today. Paul Plumber wants his van either today, or dealer-transferred in a day or so. Sam Salesman wants his sedan, SUV, or large cross-over today or tomorrow. And, of big importance: Fred the Fleet Manager wants 137 short-bed standard-engine pickups in a reasonable time frame; he does not want to hear excuses.
Someone knows please the exact date when the Oshawa plant will start building the 2022 Silverado 1500s ?
Thanks
Who cares?
Just guessing here, but… people who want to buy a Silverado?
How did that work out for you? Are you enjoying your new Silverado, G.G. ?
I tried to buy one; I tried two different Chevy agencies. Both were able to configure a truck for me. Nothing radical, but it was what I wanted. Neither could even get a build date, much less assure me I would get what I wanted, and indeed a Chevy is what I wanted as first choice.
Note: It isn’t just pickups that are an issue with Chevy. My brother’s Spark order – with deposit – has been canceled by GM twice; maybe three times. He – a loyal GM customer for over 50 years – is looking at other makes.
So, in answer to your question, I am, instead, enjoying a Ram Big Horn.
Would I consider Chevy again? Yes. I am not all that brand-loyal although I freely state I will not consider Ford. The local dealers were arrogant even in times of plenty, and they seem to give a very low miles-per-recall figure.
G G, you made my point exactly, buying any GM product is an exercise in futility! It has nothing to do with brand loyalty. If their still dicking around after this covid crap is over, I’ll just by a SRT Challenger or Charger instead of CT5 or ZL1 and I have been brand loyal up until last year!
gm is on course with John Kerry to rule the world with EVs. No transitions, right to EVs and those not wanting that quick change, eat crap and pay 6.00 a gal filling up that 25 gallon fuel tank. If you find gas since they have shut drilling and continue to shut other means to get oil.
Oh…pay Russia…
They can jack up gas till election day………………………
