  1. Once again the big question is ” can you actually find one” ?????????

  2. I agree Bill. Not a bad discount. But none on the lot to buy.

  3. These are nowhere near competitive to cars like the Accord, K5, Camry and the ugly Sonata. They need a completely new interior, top to bottom and a refresh that improves the looks some as the pre refresh looked better.

Do it right or don’t do it. They claim no one wants cars, no one wants their cars. They’re hard to find because they aren’t making any not because people are buying them up.

    1. Mr Mike: Put up or shut up. Where are you getting your info from? Do you own a Malibu? Have you had one in the past 5 years? What’s the last new Honda or Toyota you have been in? Would you say that Mazda has nice interiors and is a good car?

So I’l l put my money where my mouth is. I currently own a 2021 Malibu LT. I work in the fleet department at a Volvo and Mazda store. I’ve been in this industry for just over 20 years now. I’ve sold new Honda’s, Buick’s, Cadillac’s, GMC’s, Chevrolet’s, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep’s. As I said, I’m now around the Mazda’s and Volvo’s. With my job, I deliver cars to brokers and customers all over the southern California market. With that, I am constantly in 2015 to brand new Honda/Toyota/Nissan/Kia/Hyundai and a few Ford’s and other brands. Of the six brands I just mentions along with the Mazda’s, there isn’t one of those brands that has an interior any nicer or better than the Malibu I am currently driving. I’ve also owned Buick’s, Cadillac’s, a Volvo, several Kia’s and many different brands of used cars.

My point is simple. If you don’t have the proof or experience with a car like the Malibu, then just stop coming on here spewing ridiculous comments. If you like import brands so much, go to their sites and cuddle up with them.

      1. Put up or shut up? Seriously are you 12? I don’t and won’t buy a Malibu, that’s my point. In fact I sold my 18 Silverado for a 20 F150 for similar reasons.

If you think a 2021 Malibu is as nice as a comparable trim 2021 Accord, Camry or K5 your argument and already DOA. The only person that would agree with you is a other GM apologist. The Malibu is not a bad car but if you didn’t pay at least 4-5k less you were only buying a GM anyways because clearly you weren’t being subjective.

Malibu is fine but compared to especially an Accord and K5 they’re a joke. One is McDonald’s burger and the other is Five Guys. There isn’t a single magazine that would agree with you, picture that would back your interior quality assessment up or sales sheet that would give you any credit.

        1. Sorry Mr. Mike. I stand by my record and experience 100%. I have tons of seat time in all those newer import brands that you seem to think are so much better. They aren’t. Period. And if you are saying otherwise, then you are just being blinded by your obvious dislike for GM. In what you just said above, I didn’t see one ounce of proof or experience to back your claims other than some subjective bias from import loving magazines. haha. Nice one.

  4. The Malibu is a good looking car, but needs a power plant!

    1. It’s available with a 2.0t, you just can’t find the anywhere and they cost Cadillac money. I imagine they don’t actually make many Malibus because at the price point they try to sell it, people buy offering from Japanese and Korean manufacturers, many of which have a more modern design.

      1. h4chsaw: Cadillac money? Really? The Malibu Premier with no extra options is about $34,000 and some change. For that you get the (stupid) huge sunroof, heated and cooled leather seats, 2.0L turbo, 19″ wheels that look quite nice, navigation, Bose and a whole lot more. Base CT4 is just a little higher than that, but with a lot less features.

Anne: Don’t listen to him. He’s a Japanese brand apologist and is always on here pushing them.

That’s not a bad price at all. The only thing I would not want is the sunroof lol.

          1. Matt: I too am not a sunroof person. They add complexity, weight and are always a source of problems. If not right away, then in time. Personally, I have issues with light (from my eye color according to the Dr.) and if I don’t wear sun-glasses all the time I will get headaches. So for those reason, I hate them.

But the point is that the standard Premier Malibu is super well equipped. To get the same exact features on some of the import brands, you will be a couple grand higher in price. I really feel the Malibu is a highly under-appreciated car.

            1. I think you’re taking it too personally. The reality is they could probably spend $100 to $150 more on the interior and people would spend another grand on it. I don’t think it’s bad, but the interior is not where the class is.

The sheet metal is great, but the front and back went from an 7.5/10 for midsize cars to a 6.5 with the update.

        2. The real fact is that I’ve only owned Chevy products. Currently have a 2013 sonic purchased new. I’m just angry that gm has let the Japanese and Koreans regain control of the B/C segment. It would be delusional to claim that gm offers a full lineup in this area on par with other manufacturers. Those are the simple facts.

    2. I had a 2016 with the 1.5t and 6 speed auto. It was decently powerful and got great mpg but I did get sick of lack of power sometimes. I have a Regal TourX now, the extra power of the 2.0t is great to have. I had driven the 2019 with CVT and its ok but I wasn’t going to bet my farm on reliability. The Malibu didn’t have AWD available so between that and stupid high price for the 2.0 is why I got the TourX with all wheel drive and 2.0. The Malibu is a light car and got skittish with traction on light slippery interstate roads. I had gotten X-ice tires for it but it was still a very light car for winter at times. The ideal engine right now for the Malibu as a low cost option to upgrade would be the newer 2.0t LSY engine and 9 speed auto….that engine runs fine on regular and gets better mpg. That engine would be perfect in the front drive light weight Malibu for a great blend of power and mpg. China gets that motor, why don’t we?

      1. Because Mary Barra and people like Dan Berning are to use their terminology “Chinese apologists”

        1. Go ahead h4cksaw: My challenge to you is to come up with just two examples of how you believe that I’m a Chinese apologist? Just two. You won’t be able to get one let alone two. You see, unlike you, I don’t come on here suggesting people go buy import brands. What’s more, I don’t go on Toyota or Honda or Kia car blog sites and push GM products. Looks like me calling out your BS has you backed into a corner. And what do people do when backed into a corner? They lash out and will say anything, no matter if true or not.
