The GM Authority Take

The steep drop in Cadillac CT5 sales during the fourth quarter of 2021 is the direct result of a lack of inventory due to production being severely hampered by the ongoing global semiconductor microchip shortage. Luckily, Cadillac CT5 production resumed in October 2021 at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.

Delivering models to dealers will begin meeting pent-up demand for the luxury sedan family, including the CT5, CT5-V, and CT5-V Blackwing. While the CT5-V is the mid-tier performance model, the V-Series Blackwing is the ultra-high-performance variant. The latter has sold so well that a barely used 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing initially listed for $150K, though the price dropped $9K three weeks later. Examples of Blackwing models are consistently selling for above MSRP on both the new and used markets.
