The 2023 Buick Encore GX will drop the Satin Steel Metallic exterior color from its order books, GM Authority has learned.
On the 2022 Encore GX, Satin Steel Metallic (paint code GYM) costs $495. It’s available across all trim levels, including the entry-level Preferred, mid-grade Preferred and range-topping Essence.
For the 2023 model-year Buick Encore GX, the Satin Steel Metallic exterior color will be dropped and replaced with a new shade called Moonstone Gray Metallic (paint code BZB). As we reported previously, Satin Steel Metallic will also be dropped from the Buick Envision’s palette for 2023.
Production of the 2023 Buick Encore GX will begin at the GM Bupyeong plant in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, South Korea on April 24th, 2022, GM Authority reported previously. The subcompact crossover will serve as the brand’s entry-level model for 2023, with the automaker set to drop the aging Buick Encore from its lineup. The standard Buick Encore was first introduced for the 2013 model year, with the 2022 model representing the tenth model year in the production run.
Power in the Buick Encore GX comes from the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine, which is rated at 155 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 174 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are offered. Transmission options include either the GM continuously variable transmission (CVT) or the GM nine-speed automatic, depending on the drivetrain configuration. Front-wheel-drive models feature the CVT, while all-wheel-drive models have the nine-speed. The crossover rides on GM’s modular GM VSS-F (Vehicle Strategy Set-Front) platform.
We’ll have more details on any changes and updates applied to the 2023 Buick Encore GX once it becomes available. For now, be sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more Buick Encore GX news, Buick news and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

Have you heard if satin steel or graphite gray will be available on the 2023 terrains? I was going to purchase a 2022 terrain until I heard that neither of these colors were available. Hoping to purchase a 2023!
It is a decent color, hopefully the new shade will look as good.
I have a Yukon on order and my salesman told me Satin Steel was going away eventually in the GMCs as well replaced by a new color. (possibly this Moonstone Gray Metallic) He didn’t recall the name of the color but he said he had seen an example and he thought it looked really sharp.
