General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a product safety recall for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup over an issue related to the vehicle’s taillights. Only ten vehicles are believed to be affected by this particular issue at this time.
The problem: in affected vehicles, the software that operates the taillights may cause one or both rear taillights to become inoperative, or to remain fully or partially illuminated.
The hazards: a vehicle with taillights that are inoperative or only partially illuminated fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, which is related to “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.” NHTSA also says that a taillight that fils to illuminate or illuminates incorrectly may reduce the visibility of the vehicle, or communicate incorrect information to other drivers, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: GM dealers will be instructed to inspect and replace the left and/or right rear taillight assemblies as necessary. These repairs will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner.
Affected components: rear taillight(s).
Affected vehicles:
- 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup
Number of affected vehicles: a total of ten vehicles are believed to be affected by this problem.
Owners should: GM will mail notification letters to owners of affected vehicles instructing them to make an appointment with their dealer. These letters will be sent out on April 25th, 2022. If owners are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall, they can visit my.gm.com/

That’s hilarious. Already recalled.
Brand new vehicle on a new platform with 10 vehicles being affected – big deal.
When did I say it was a big deal? I said it’s hilarious it’s already recalled, check your eyes.
You don’t own one, so saying it’s no big deal means nothing coming from you. I imagine the owners say otherwise. People who reserved these have been waiting on them for a while now. It’s an inconvenience to have something so new already have to be taken in, it doesn’t matter that it’s just a taillight it’s the fact something is already wrong.
I’m a reservation holder for a Hummer SUV 2X.
Again you don’t own one. Holding a reservation and already having one are two completely different things. The recall doesn’t effect you because you don’t have said vehicle in your possession.
It is a big deal when maybe 20 have been made lmao
It’s a big deal if GM only built 10. You are acting as if Hummer being built at scale. GM isn’t there yet.
Great start for a 105k vehicle you idiots.
10 vehicles only?
That last picture shows the truck in silver, I’ve never seen it in that color before, I like it!
Gotta mechanic coming
at least they caught it and fixed it before it was a larger number, which leads to the question, how many of these have been built?
If I owned one, my question would be, what other simple thing was built incorrectly on this vehicle?
@GMAN… I agree they (GM) could have let this go and recalled it years later instead of months later! I don’t know what the big deal is it’s a taillight on my 2010 Equinox my LED bulb that I installed went out so I took the light housing off the vehicle, took the bulb out of the socket cleaned the socket with electronic parts cleaner and WOW… it worked again that took me all of 15 minutes to finish so please to all the TROLLS on here STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT TAKES LESS TIME THEN AN OIL CHANGE TO FIX!
People can say whatever they want you aren’t the website dictator sir.
Maybe Bebop is a sexiest Turd! Why don’t you go TROLL on some other Webpage?! And oh yes the Hummer EV is out and being built and you can order one DUMMY! I think I know who you voted for in 2020.
Why don’t you start your own webpage since you want complete control over what people can say on here. You are definitely a troll, you think you know who that person voted for because of his comment? Get a life prick.
You think he voted for Biden to then right? I agree I also believe the Biden accusers. That old man is nothing but a bigot racist sexist pig.
They probably don’t have the part to fix them.
End of article states all repairs done, was updated some time last night i guess
Maybe scotty is right about GM.
Scotty is an miserable old man who talks about cars mostly from the 80’s and 90’s if I brought either my 2010 Equinox or 2019 Buick Enclave this guy wouldn’t know how to do an oil change! I am GM for life that’s what I own and that’s what I will continue to buy! 🤌👍🏁🇺🇸. Hey Peter wht don’t you get a life next election and do yourself a favor and VOTE FOR TRUMP! Yupp
I have a life I don’t try to control what people say on a random forum. That would be you. China would better suit your needs.
Great start to our new electric future, they can’t even get a simple thing like taillights right!
A software glitch! Software- NUTS- Why make something so simple stupid complicated? What is wrong with an “old school” $2.00 switch?
@Toolmaker they make it complicated so your forced to go to the dealership and buy the parts through the car companies! That’s why I like cars 10 years or older they are a little bit simpler to work on and get parts for plus with an older vehicle the parts can be aftermarket and much cheaper then say GM or Toyota. This is why I don’t want to get rid of my 2010 Chevy Equinox LTZ V6 it’s paid off and still runs great 👍. You know that the governor of California recently said that the Electric grid can’t handle all the electric vehicles people are buying ahd charging! Like I have been saying for years the only way ICE cars are going away is when we run out of oil or some other fuel comes along that’s just as convenient as oil until then enjoy your ICE car.
