2022 Chevy Tahoe And Suburban Get Heated Steering Wheel Back

The Heated Steering Wheel (RPO code KI3) has returned to the order books for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban full-size SUVs, GM Authority can confirm.

The Heated Steering Wheel option for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban had been under supply constraint due to the global semiconductor chip shortage from the December 6th, 2021 production date, as GM Authority reported previously. GM has now re-added the Heated Steering Wheel to the vehicle’s order books, so all Tahoe and Suburban units that come equipped with this component will be built with it again as of March 27th, 2022. The Heated Steering Wheel is part of the optional Luxury Package (RPO WPL) for the Tahoe and Suburban, which is available for the LT, RST and Z71 trim levels, and is standard on the Premier and High Country trims.

While GM has managed to bring the heated steering wheel back to the order books for these two SUVs, there are still supply constraints related to other power/electronic features on the Tahoe and Suburban due to the chip shortage. This includes Heated Front Seats, Ventilated Front Seats, Heated Outboard Rear Seats and Front and Rear Park Assist. It’s currently unclear when these items will be re-added to the vehicle’s list of options, but rest assured, GM Authority will be the first to report on the matter once we get more information.

The Chevy Tahoe and Suburban of course aren’t alone when it comes to experiencing supply constraints. A wide variety of Chevy models are currently facing constraints due to the ongoing microchip shortage, including the Chevy Blazer, Chevy Colorado, Chevy Equinox, Chevy Silverado 1500, Chevy Silverado HD, Chevy Trailblazer, and Chevy Traverse. Some of the features affected include the Heated Steering Wheel feature, Heated Front Seats, Heated Outboard Rear Seats and Front and Rear Park Assist.

GM recently re-added the Power Sliding Center Console option back to the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban order books, as well, however this change only applies to range-topping High Country trims. The feature is still unavailable to order on LT, RST, and Z71 trim levels. The feature was also included as standard on Premier trim levels and is still not available on the Premier, either.

  3. For the money they are charging, for the selling at MSRP – zero discounts/deals and the just announced price increase what idiot would buy a short optioned vehicle. GM should SHUTTER till it can get the chips OR, produce less vehicles and properly equip those that it does build!
